Roma have made a piss poor and pathetic bid which was always going to get laughed away. The price tag remains at £50M it sounds like but i suspect we would do business at £40M
That sort of thing just pisses me off. If I ran a club, I would name my price for a player. Everytime someone made a bid below that value, I would add £1m into the price and stick to it. That way it stops piss poor bids disrupting players
I've read that it was €29m so around £27m - either way I bet they were hoping that £50m was just for Arsenal.
1st bid or not, 20m does take the piss a little you have to admit. Why even waste their time with such a low offer. Mahrez is going to have egg on his face good and proper at this rate if no one else comes in for him
If a couple of clubs were interested I would expect £35-£40m easily at todays rates, however last season seems to have put people off quite a bit.
Absolutely mate, his performances last season has definitely made potential buyers very dubious I still think Arsenal may come in with a bid if they don't get their man from Monaco
I don't like the idea of any player who wants away to be taking the place of someone who wants to stay. After last season's disrespectful performances I would take anything over £30m and ship him out before he causes upset in the camp.
I'd rather someone paid the money and he went but ultimately I'd rather he stayed and worked his socks off for 1 more year to get a move then sell for an insulting price
He doesn't do 'working his socks off'. You can't blame teams for not piling in at £40 million after what they saw from him last season. I don't care what he did the season before last. Form might be temporary, but not for a whole bl00dy season!
Agreed. But there is a price and they have to pay it. Anyone paying sub £30m is getting a steal in this market.
The problem is, there's players going for 30mill that haven't even had one season like Mahrez such as Sissoko or young players going for that much after a good year but not player of the year standard like Keane and Pickford just because they're English. That's why we should look north of 40mill. The market has gone mad, we should exploit that. At least until it caves in in itself
Then you need to sell in the PL or to the top 2 Spanish teams, German, French and Italian clubs are still paying realistic prices whilst selling at a mad profit.
I'm torn about selling to a team here. He may come back to haunt us when we play his new team but would we benefit if he was playing for Arsenal and he was helping take points off sides more likely to be around us? Maybe. Still think I'd rather him go abroad. It's not like it's my money so from a fans perspective it's better to sell him a bit cheaper abroad
An unhappy player will always get his move. Always thought not cashing in on Payet would come back and haunt West Ham. Could same happen here?
In our case we have not had a decent offer yet - only Roma have officially bidded for him and even in last season's market it was crap. It is not the case that him staying is preventing anyone from joining - that we aren't linked with any replacements says a lot as well.
