Twitter is like a mine field today. My feeling is that he's had a taster of a major trophy win and been rubbing shoulders with the best of the best throughout the summer. I'd defy anyone not to get their head turned slightly in that situation. Utd can realistically offer him more silverware in the 2 - 3 years he has left as a player. Of course it's all 'ifs', 'buts' and 'maybes' at the moment. It reminds me a bit of Lambert, who's transfer I still believe was more to rock the boat than to improve Liverpool.
Seeing as Fonte is the captain of the team he isn't conducting himself very well through social media. All of these cryptic posts, or non posts in recent weeks. If he is doing it to engineer himself a move away I'll lose all my respect for him.
Why though? This is modern football, if a player wants to leave then they have to use all these sorts of "tricks" to get the move, it won't upset the other players as they know what is going on and possibly one day have to do something similar themselves.
This was posted by someone who SW seem to think is ITK ... "As far as I am aware , I can say there WAS interest from Manchester United, but nothing whatsoever from Everton, which I did say last week. If there were Manchester United "staff" (in any capacity) at the game with Watford yesterday, I'd be inclined to say that was more to do with Fridays game more than anything specifically Jose Fonte related. But, based on what I know about the situation, which is limited, as nobody is really saying anything... I wouldn't say it was entirely impossible. That being said, the entire thing could just be a game from Mourinho. From what I understand the situation with Fonte is described as "difficult", but I'm led to believe that is nothing to do with any transfer speculation as such but more to do with first team squad setup, without getting into any details. I can't say any more than that. The club want Jose to stay and so do the fans and from a personal viewpoint I think Jose does aswell."
Because it's not the way to do things? Keep your mouth shut, and don't add to the speculation that is already there. Not hard to do.
Did people lose all respect for Morgan when he went on his twitter rant when we told him he couldn't go to Spurs? Or is that different because he was forced into staying?
You mean all that old fashioned stuff like dignity, integrity etc? I agree. All that stuff still has value, even in today's mercenary world.
Fair enough, I think we will just have to agree to disagree. It is modern football, people say regularly "it is all about the way you leave a club" hence why players like Shaw and Lambert generally get positive feedback but Lallana, Lovren etc don't. If we had turned down the offers for Shaw and Lambert and they wanted to go they most likely would've used the exact same kind of tactics Lallana and Lovren did to force the move through. It is basically how quickly the club bidding for our players gets to an acceptable offer that decides whether or not a player has to attempt to take things into their own hands to force the move.
Of course, I understand it's modern football and that everything that goes on behind the scenes can now be put in the public eye within minutes if a player wanted to. Just thought Jose may be cut from a different cloth having come on the journey with us, all the way through to winning the Euro's. That is of course if he is using social media to help engineer a move away.
I'm getting a bad feeling about this. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...nte-Premier-League-Jose-Mourinho-News-Bonucci
Look, Jose has been here for seven years. I'm not going to begrudge him wanting a chance at the big time, because he has given us everything we could ask for and then some. I'm not going to lose respect for him even if he's upset concerning something at the club, even if the source of his angst proves entirely irrational, because he has been here through all the tumult with scarcely a murmur. I don't at all want him to leave, but he's also the only player in the squad (who I rate) that I'd be okay with selling, because he's earned the right for us to respect his wishes. Plus, I think that he has enough respect in the dressing room that a rift between Fonte and the club would be serious verging on fatal.
To me it also feels like a standard J Mourinho tactic to disrupt us before the Friday game against them. Making sure Fonte does not play against them, with an "unofficial" enquiry to mess with his head. Can you imagine the impact of a third successive home defeat against us?
DTLW posted this the other day Just on the train home and saw the palava on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook. No reason to panic, I'm told. He's staying.
If Jose wants to swap being the Captain for being a squad back up at Manure then that is his decision, a poor one in my opinion and he will slightly sour the special bond that has with our club. I wouldn't begrudge him that move after what he has achieved here but I will feel a little bit disillusioned with Jose. Edit: it is no coincidence that Rickie and Jose and even Adam and Morgan went from League One to become international players. The club had a massive part in their development and a little loyalty would be nice on this occasion.
If he wants to go let him go, if he wants to stay let him stay. 12 .5 million and I'll happily wish him good luck, he's a top bloke, he just wants to play for the biggest club on the planet and who wouldn't. On the other hand he stays and we carry on as normal, I don't really see the dilemma or the potentially incoming meltdown
