Such a shame for the rest of us When Wenger goes they might be forced to take more risks, unless the board find another manager that's more invested in financial interest than football.
Yeah I dont think they can refer to him as their manager anymore, he should be called "Arsene Wenger - Arsenal Financier"
Yeah, I do remember raising an eyebrow when you guys turned your back on Remy to be honest. He has scored like 8 goals in 30 games, but most of those appearances are like 10-20 minute sub appearances. Compared to Balo's, 1 in 24 was it? Still, after the Remy thing fell through, I still would have taken a punt on Balo for only £16m. What if he'd been world class for you, and you sold him 3 seasons later for £60m Could have just as easily happened. I remember you guys signing some ugly as **** overbite, cheating, handballing, player gnawing **** from some dutch club, who you then sold for like 5 times the price, and who single handedly nearly won you the title. If they hadn't signed Suarez because of his cockish antics........you see?
I wonder what Suarez would go for in todays market? Has to be well over 100mil. I'd say 140mil minimum to a PL club. Crazy times.
Agree with that price as the maximum, even taking BS into account This is Man Utd on tilt. They're paying so much over the odds they're numb to #reality and the numbers are meaningless to them (for now) A friend should have pulled them out of the game a long time ago
Like I said though, even if you dont, its £16m. Not like a certain club who signed a donkey for £50m and had similar problems shifting him.
Was never ever going to happen though. Suarez was a **** but he never ever acted anything other than 100% Balotelli has never gien even 50% I dont get how you cant see the point being hes lazy, self absorbed and never bothered. He adopted a slave and broughtbhim to our training and he had to be told not to have him sleeping in his car waiting for badontelly. Suarez was never pictured goofing in training. Acting the Mick with fireworks... but worst of all rogers supposedly had mourinhos number and mourinho said the guy was unmanageable. A simple phone call and even mourinho would have warned rogers off. The fee is irrelevant. The damge to squad morale and the club was terrible and rightly cost rogers. I hope it hets shut of 3 or 4 others too.
United, like yourselves and now City, have always had to pay a significant mark up on players. It'll be even more now with the TV money. I remember when they bought Carrick years ago at probably twice the price that anyone else would have paid, but it was worth it for them, and then some, in the long run. The problem I had with Balotelli (see further up the thread) was twofold: we should have speculated £16m on Berahino and/or Shaqiri, not a proven waster; and the effect it would have on a team of chasing/harrying forwards to see some deadbeat standing still in the centre circle getting his breath back. And that last point is relevant to Benteke too - though I appreciate he does make an effort, but even Peter Crouch could tell him a thing or two about movement and closing down.
Bollocks! It was Balotelli. It was never going to be a good move, even if we'd got him for a quid is have moaned about the waste!
I'm sure they had that phone call. Rogers said he wouldn't touch him in July - by late August he bought him. Rogers now claims the 'Committee' forced him on to us. Something about the whole malarkey stunk.
