A young upcoming manager, former Dutch International intent on playing attractive football. No thanks.
http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/hasselbaink-agrees-qpr-deal-and-will-bring-oldfield Looks like it's a done deal - under-whelming, but time to get behind him I suppose - how long will he get if the results don't pick up?
Hells' teeth.....a youngish manager that wants his team to play attractive football......never catch on.....
To me, I think this is a good thing. Appointing someone who has come from a well run club, inherited a good team and progressed them and is ambitious can only be a positive thing. Every manager has a "risk" associated with them that it might not work out, but for me, giving an up and coming manager with clear values a chance to work with a good squad will hopefully pay dividends. I will be fully supportive of him, and hopefully can see us have a successful season playing some attractive football. EDIT** Also worth noting, if we did wait until the end of the season, and Burton got promoted (again) increasing his stock, how many of us would be crying out to appoint him?
A young, upcoming manager with no experience of the division and a squad of underperforming, highly paid individuals who wouldn't play for the last inexperienced incumbent...yes please! Joking aside, it's a big call by the club - fingers crossed we don't come to regret it. All the talk seems now over - time to support the boys.
He must have been given a massive pot of money to bring in the players capable of playing attractive football if the evidence of the last few years is anything to go by
Is he "intent on playing attractive football"? The League 1 table suggests Burton's defensive ability is why they are top.
Apart from his obvious CFC connection and he was an annoying player, welcome JFH. Didn't he also say no gloves or snoods at training?
Well I slagged off Redknapp before he was appointed, during his time at the club, and after he left, so it would be hypocritical of me to say to the doubters 'give him a chance, you bunch of feckless ****ers'. You bunch of feckless ****ers (hypocrisy, doncha just luv it!!??). Fingers crossed, more to my preference than a blood and guts type 'experienced but failed that's why I'll come to QPR' type. Though I suspect our problems lie deeper than this appointment.
I realise a lot of fans on all boards are against this appointment, but I agree 100% with you elnino. Of course it may not work, but It is no more a risk though than with any other manager. I wonder what would have happened with Derby if they had considered Brian Clough being too inexperienced to appoint? Would Liverpool have won the European Cup if they hadn't taken a chance on Bill Shankly? As for Leeds giving Don Revie his first managerial role! I could list many other success stories of taking a manager from the lower leagues with less attributes if you wish, but Gerry Francis alone should be enough!
I don't get the animosity towards JFH. There are no sure things in football. I for one would like to appoint someone who's not used to failure. Warnock would be great as he's got us playing again. But with his wife's illness and his age he would never be anything but a short fix. I welcome a young manager with success, ambition and something to prove. Being foreign he might be a better fit under a DoF.
I heard his philosophy was more defence minded which probably isn't such a bad thing. Just hope we can combine it with some attractive footy.
Do you reckon he'll give himself a game once Charlie goes? ****ing hell, Gary Neville has just been appointed Valencia's head coach. Where did that come from?
Now that's what I call 'value adding'.......................... wonder if it's listed in his contract under, Bonuses.
So I understand why Neil cannot commit. So Tim not nice but Dim, not very successful Powell or JFH...I am right behind him. ...please come and make my team a team again an d please bring a smile to our faces. Xx
