Sam Allardyce agrees to become new Sunderland manager on a two-year deal

Sam Allardyce will be announced as the new manager of Sunderland in the next 24 hours after agreeing a two-year-deal with the struggling Premier League club.
The 60-year-old former West Ham, Newcastle and Bolton boss is still in Spain but talks between his representatives and Sunderland owner Ellis Short were successfully completed today.
Sportsmail revealed yesterday that Short had moved for Allardyce, who comes in after Dick Advocaat left the Stadium of Light early this week following his failure to secure a single win in the first eight Premier League games of the season.
Sunderland are set to appoint former Newcastle and West Ham boss Sam Allardyce as their new manager
Sunderland threw away a two-goal lead in their last Premier League clash at The Stadium of Light vs West Ham
Dick Advocaat left from his post as Sunderland boss without a win in eight Premier League matches
ALLARDYCE'S FIRST SIX GAMES
Oct 17: West Brom (a) - Premier League
Oct 25: Newcastle (h) - Premier League
Nov 1: Everton (a) - Premier League
Nov 7: Southampton (h) - Premier League
Nov 23: Crystal Palace (a) - Premier League
Nov 28: Stoke (h) - Premier League
And despite reports that any agreement would only be until the end of the season, Allardyce has agreed a two year contract with Sunderland’s American owner.
The 60-year-old had originally let his reservations about the position be known but owner Ellis Short was determined to land his No 1 target.
The American billionaire believes Allardyce is the man who can rescue the club from relegation.
Allardyce will kick off his Black Cats reign at West Brom a week on Saturday before a home unveiling against North-East rivals Newcastle, the club he managed for just eight months after being appointed in 2007.
Allardyce - who was sacked by the Magpies and has a frosty relationship with the Toon Army - will become the first person to take charge of both Sunderland and Newcastle.
Personally I`d rather this than an end of season thing. So many more options.
I`d like to know what Short promised him.
