So many rumors for players out still.. This is starting to get embarrassing - no way will other clubs view us as a threat if they can help themselves to not only our players but transfer targets too! We desperately need a new CB, 10 points went to north London with Toby. Each day the gossip columns have no good news just more potential outgoings. I know its just gossip but for the time being they're probably not too far from the truth given the amount of talent we supply to the top 6 of late!

Take the gossip as a compliment as to how well we are progressing. Me, I don't give a damn how the other clubs view us and it certainly isn't embarrassing. I'd day it is embarrassing for them that they have to rely on us finding the gems.

The only thing that matters is how we do on the pitch and that has been pretty darn good over the last 6 years.

    We March On :)

Absolutely. I said on here this week that he realizes now just how good it was at Saints and that is after two games.

In the early days, I did, very much so. I started supporting Saints in 2003 after they lost the FA cup final, I'm not here for glory but weird a sense of affiliation to a club 100 miles down the coast, I even moved to Southampton for university to see my beloved red and white stripes every week. That affiliation was built upon a bedrock of players who I identified as the true Saints, sure they came and went but there was always a handful of fans favorites in each squad. Now I feel like when I take my seat in the Kingsland corner I have to start cheering a whole new bunch of 'favourites' and the previous lot have pissed off. Its becoming difficult to support a new bunch, . The Southampton way has disappeared in to the greedy and cynical world of football. As a result, atmosphere suffers - how can 30,000 people be expected to come up with creative chants for 5-10 new names in a host of languages if they can't pronounce the name properly. I can no longer sanction paying £35 to see a bunch of names run around kissing a badge that means a lot to me, in the knowledge they will leave for a few extra dollar signs. If loyalty in football is dead, why is the fickle fan expected to remain patriotically loyal to a club?

When it comes down to it, players, managers, owners, and even fans are all transitory. The only permanent thing is the club. Personally, when I think how close we came to losing the club completely in 2009, I'm just grateful we still have a team to support, and I will cheer for whoever happens to being playing for us this season.

Good point, and with rising so quickly I suppose my expectations have too. It's just frustrating that even still it is our key players being linked away more often than the potential arrivals.

I guess the time to start worrying is when we don't have any players the big clubs want.
When that happens we will just be on a par with Stoke and West Brom etc.

the thing that worries me is that we're not spending much of this transfer cash (yet)

But why not already? Everyday I wait for news about others being pillaged in the same way we are, but nothing. Its very frustrating.
We must stand firm this late into the window, & I believe we will, but I'm surprised that there's no bids on the table for Bolasie & Berahino* +other stand out players at so called smaller clubs?

(*Spurs derisory offer obviously does not count)

I wouldn't group Stoke with WBA, I'd say we're roughly on a par with Stoke now.

Ayew and Montero won't be there much longer if they carry on how they are now. Gomis will stay due to his age.

But with the way some off their players have been performing, you'd think the papers would just be linking them away at every given opportunity.
