To say people don't work hard in this country is a very sweeping and frankly insulting generalisation. Try doing 12 hour night shifts in manufacturing/production then tell me people don't work hard. Something tells me you would find that kind of work beneath you
I think this whole thread is based on boxing people up into convenient groups and then making sweeping generalisations. It could be easily argued that any group on the end of a negative generalisation would be insulted but most of the groups aren't represented on this forum. The fact that the majority group can feel aggrieved by a few throwing remarks back is a lesson at best and a fitting irony at worst.
Some facts here. We may not be lazy, but we are not very productive. In fact we are 17% less productive than other developed economies, and 27% less than France. We beat Japan, but that's a country that has been in recession for 20 years and has a labour market which acts as a social welfare system with redundant jobs and over manning everywhere. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/icp/i...y/2013---final-estimates/info-icp-feb-15.html
Plenty of the usual own-country-hating crap on here I see. I'm always curious as to why those people who so obviously dislike their own country choose to still live here. Mmm.......I wonder.
Hang on. Not wishing to pick a fight and fully prepared to be corrected if I have misinterpreted your post, but are you saying that the hard working people of this country are not allowed to be aggrieved at being called lazy and have it insinuated its their own fault that we have such immigration issues (by a guy who sits pontificating in France) as to mention it after expressing concerns over immigration would be far too ironic?? BTW I would have no issue with any immigrant coming here to work, as I said way back in the thread for me its all about fitting in, better that than claim benefits or worse still trying to change our culture while plotting the countries downfall from within
My post was more aimed at this thread in general rather than an attack at workers. Because of the circumstances of this debate, it's only the posters who can make the generalisations and, in turn get offended by being on the receiving end. When it started, the sweeping statements went outwards at groups not represented and, quite predictably, after enough get thrown, some hit groups that do have a voice on here. Rest assured, by the time this one's over, most will have taken offence at something while vehemently defending their right to offend others through blanket assertions. I don't mean offence personally; I have no anger and am taking the role of by-stander flitting between being amused and saddened.
Ok fair dos and I appreciate that it wasn't meant as a personal slight, but just to re affirm, I don't believe my standpoint on the OP is a negative generalisation of Muslims. I have at no point said all Muslims are bad or terrorists or anything. I would however imagine that most , if not all Muslims (even the moderate ones) would like as many mosques in Britain as possible, they would also like interest free mortgages to suit their religious needs, they would also like their women to wear muslim dress code and for us generally to accept their culture into our own. Personally speaking I don't think any of this is compatible with English culture and I don't think it should be forced upon us. Therefore as I don't feel I have generalised negatively , rather just pointed out a few truths I reserve the right to be offended at being generalised as a "lazy British worker"
No, it was in 2007, that's less than ten years ago, that's when you falsely accused them of all being *****s's so you could strip them of their rights, (which the 'might' get back in 2022) homes and families, and sell the mineral rich land to mining corporations, because it was better than paying them for the mineral rights. a rich abo? unthinkable. That is modern day australia, you're a nation of smiling insipid nazi's, you complain about neo-nazi rallies, then go to the polls to vote for nazi policies. A backward and superficial nation, which is ironic when you consider you're descended from unwanted gin-sodden gutter-whores, maybe that's the problem.
Interesting thread. Having spent upwards of 20 years working overseas, the majority of which in Malaysia, Egypt and now Qatar i have yet to experience any intolerance or prejudice against myself as a non-muslim. On the contrary i have been made to feel welcome and have made many firm Muslim friends.7 Islam is much misunderstood in the Western world. I lay much of todays Islamaphobia in the UK squarely on successive governments belief in multiculturalism, which in my opinion panders to the worst elements of religious society of all faiths. That and a rabid tabloid media. We are now into Ramadam, a time of self reflection and evaluation of our own personal faiths. A time of hope. Ramadan Mubarak to you all.
Now there's a sweeping statement I'm sure not all Aussies are descended from gin sodden gutter whores
You obviously feel strongly about this. What are you actually doing about it apart from posting on a forum focussed on English football, anonymously?
not all, some were thieves as well, and maybe not all were gin sodden, but they're sill a nation of immigrant boat people who use violence and intimidation to force people to live their way.

To continue this conversation with you would not be fair on someone with such limited intellect, so therefore, I will refrain from any further comment with the exception of saying, go back to your board, you are not welcome on ours.
