Kane could be the next one, so long as he keeps performing! Arsenal fan isn't he? Just ask these guys about Colback
So sunderland fans are unrealistic for having hopes of a decent midtable team and a cup run? What a ****ing plank.
Add Carrick Bale Modric to the Spurs team , doubt lf many players going to turn down one of the big clubs
They have to do it every year until they don't have to do it. A big club is born. You lot are holding onto your big players pretty well and your still a distance from Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United and Liverpool. Yet you compete.
If he'd said that any team outside the the established big money clubs could potentially end up in a relegation fight, and should be thankful for each year they stay up, then I'd almost agree with him. For the fact that he's chosen to pick out Sunderland especially, he can just **** right off.
So... A player who played for Blackburn, Villa and Celtic gives his opinion on Sunderland? Arsehole! Yes we will be happy if we stay up this season but to say we should have no further ambition is absolute bollocks. Burnley (with respect) are not a great side, not a big club by any stretch and not in the "premier league" attendance bracket - are you saying they should not try to stay up and just accept relegation? and if they do go down should they be happy to stay there? Hope Villa go down!
Before all the money came along, staying in the top division probably wasn't the be-all and end-all that it seems to be today. It is obviously nice not to be relegated, but to only win a handful of games every season to achieve this is rather depressing and difficult to watch. I am not suggesting that relegation would be a good thing (far from it), but some of our most exciting and entertaining recent seasons have been in the lower division (e.g. 97-8, 98-9), where we actually got to witness winning football. Our problem this season is that we seem to be set up not to take a tonking ala Southampton away. This makes us very slow to start matches and we end up chasing the game with fewer attacking options or getting a lot of 0-0 draws when the opposition are of a similar mindset. I agree that Sutton is trying to be deliberately controversial, but I am going to rise to it and say, if we pay good money to watch our team play at the highest level, we want a decent level of entertainment and competitiveness. We don't just turn up to be entertained by the attacking skills of the opposition.
Is it any wonder Short is cautious with the amount of money he's seen thrown away on the likes of Altidore, Graham etc. I don't believe any owner would plan to just survive season after season .......... going down and losing all that money is just too big a risk.
I was if the understanding that southampton are one of the richest clubs in the world after leibher left all of his inheritance to the club
This is why i think he must have a masterplan, he's looked at the way clubs operate and realised the playing field isnt fair, up comes FFP with ellis at the forefront, he will be looking to kick on year on year, as it stands right now gus is steering the ship, he could be great maybe, i was pleased to see his passion on tuesday, if we finish around 14th i can see investment in the summer, reckon thats the main reason we didnt bring the extra loan in
So, essentially, "Any team which isn't already successful should not aspire to ever be so" ....... from a guy who won the league with Blackburn. Is he trying to be ironic?
Usually desperate cowards who are incapable of succeeding in management so tell other managers how to do it. Shearer, Savage, Merson, Gray, Birtles, etc etc etc ........ smirking boring tossers the lot of them
I'd already added them, in my mind mate ......... the worst people in 'the game' imo. Out of that list I'd say Shearer is the fairest and most reasonable tbh.
