I don't. And I hope I'm wrong.
And it's not the appointment of Adams per se, it is the utterly incompetent way it has been done. This convinces me that McNally will want nothing to do with this shower.
I reckon they should have let Stephen Fry make the managerial appointment
He probably got the casting vote and sided with Delia.
I think the Technical Director role is now key. If it's another nothing-appointment then I can see McNally thinking he'd be better off elsewhere. If we bring in an impressive figure who will stand up to Delia in the boardroom, then an ally might be all McNally needs.
I can't see him leaving soon, purely because it would be seen as a complete vote of no-confidence in our board and manager. If Adams gets the sack, he'll probably agree to take the blame and resign then.
Unless, of course, McNally just got lucky with Lambert and is actually as crap as the rest of them. In which case he will hang on to his million-pound job like a barnacle to a sinking ship.
Poor old Foxy. One of the main reasons we were promoted, then one of the main reasons we stayed up. Surplus to Hughton's requirements because he could pass a ball and had vision, just one of the many roadkills left behind by Mr Nice Guy.
I wish Foxy all the best. I think the way many fans have jumped on the bandwagon to say that he is 'not Premiership class' is quite disgraceful.
No way on earth was Foxy a PL player, he was excellent for us in L1 and the Championship, in the PL he played a few half-decent games, but somebody only had to breathe heavily in his direction to knock him off the ball!
Sorry, I usually avoid confrontation but about this one I will not, because a player's reputation is involved.
Did you miss the entire Lambert season? Did Fox really give us nothing then?
People like you are so willing to accept Johnson as a Premiership player because he 'covers every blade of grass'. Did he do anything useful or creative? NO. But he covered every blade of grass and he huffed and puffed, so, wow, he is Premiership class.
This is the kind of crap that Hughton's hideous football was based on. And people like you buy into it and besmirch the reputation of a footballer who did a great deal for our club and could have done much more if we had had a manager who had even the slightest hint of imagination and vision.
Fox had limitations, of course (as does Johnson). But maybe if we had placed more faith in players like Fox and less in players like Johnson, we would still be in the Premiership.
Personally I think Adams was the Boards number 2 choice (Think of that what you will) and after they didn't get Malky they moved on to him. I can understand the fans frustration as the whole thing dragged out and they were looking for a nice new future, but that doesn't mean this was a bad decision, or that it was done against McNally's wishes.
From reports I've read and other bits and bobs I've picked up, the players are fully on Adams' side, so that might have actually been a factor in his favour (Plenty have said the whole team will leave now that Adams is in charge without any substance to back it up). We also know that they are looking to bring in a bigger back room staff so after Malky didn't want in they looked to someone who knows the club, is a very good coach by all accounts and seems to get the players playing in the right way.
I genuinely can't stand the reaction from a few on here who have already decided that our season is a bust. It likely will be if half the supporters are against the man in charge And the Board, That's called a self fulfilling prophecy. I do wonder if some on here just like to be negative so they can say they told us so a few months down the line.

I may be in the minority with that opinion but it's what I truly believe. Remember when everyone was saying they didn't mind who came in, they'd support the decision and move on. i do not believe mcnally will go, certainly not because of this, because i think, all things considered and having heard the presser, he has bought into the adams regime too
I hate to confuse the issue with facts, but Bowkett has made it very clear that Adams was the only candidate to be offered the job. As for McNally, I think he sees Lambert potential in Adams. Lambert had relatively little experience in the lower leagues when he was appointed, and many (including me) were saying the same things as now. Why don't we wait and see what Adams can do before dismissing him?
i've heard people say things like this before but its not always the whole truth. i wouldn't take too much from that.
That doesn't mean he was first choice though. By the sounds of it, Malky wasn't keen to work in the set-up the board want, and that stalled talks. That doesn't mean they weren't interested in him (whether more or fewer(
) than Adams is irrelevant), just that things never progressed to the point of a formal job offer.I think that there is a lot of ' barking up the wrong tree ' here. From what I know and have heard - I hope Supers can support me on this - DM is the dominant voice on the Board and there is no way that Adams would have been appointed without his agreement. As far as Fox is concerned I agree that he is better than some people think but bearing in mind the youngsters who need to be brought through, the number of midfielders, including Surman, already under contract and the need for new faces was there really a need to offer Fox a new contract?
