    In this case, yes, but it doesn't have to be.

    The article says 'majstorija Lovrena' meaning 'Lovren's masterpiece' (or something like that)
    But if I want to say, 'They praised Lovren' where Lovren is a direct object of the sentence, in Croatian it would be 'Oni su hvalili Lovrena'

    As you can see, suffix -a can have various meanings, depending of the context.
