Benfica is a good team. The high line wasn't a good idea against a team that counters this well, but the alternative was to risk looking passive. I understand why we went for the stupid option.

This is awful - even by our worst standards.....
Defence all over the place, no creativity, just long ball punts in the general direction of Ade and Kane.
Eriksen failing to deliver most crosses and freekicks, Paulinho anonymous and Sandro facing a red card ....

I don't see how people can see us play like this, and believe that Sherwood should be given a chance!

You have an MF that cannot play a pass fast. Or accurately when under pressure.
Benfica haven't had to do much homework.
Congest the MF. Expect slow/sloppy passing from the opponent.
Be patient and await inevitable mistakes.

Yep!, no style, no guile. Yet again, we look like we could still be there this time tomorrow, and still not score!...
I'm sure Naughton on the left has been adequate at some point, though I'm hard pressed to remember when. Having a #10 on the left as well against a team like Benfica doesn't look too bright at this point either, right along with playing the high line.
I dunno I'm not the manager. But you really think we should persist playing this **** football? Or did I miss some sarcasm?

How has Sherwood monitored our opposition and thought that this set-up would be ideal? Ludicrous.
We need to take off Kane and Naughton at half-time and bring on a left-back and a left-winger.
Shift Eriksen into the middle, where he's basically playing anyway, play the ball more quickly and stretch their defence.
That was a bloody awful performance. So much for his two hour team talk and telling the players how it is.

Don't waste your energy on trying to remember - you won't. Not one single game has he added anything positive either in a defensive or attacking form. The guy is at best a mid-table championship class - and that is probably not being very kind to the championship.
I'm at the game and Jesus we are terrible. One shot over the bar in 45minutes. It's so easy for Benfica. Any team who comes to WHL needs to just play like this. Paulinho has done nothing. The long balls to Soldado and Adebayor are a waste of time. Naughton and Eriksen offer no creativity and little defence down the left side. I would say it can't get any worse but I know it probably will!!
