The problem is that even if Osvaldo does fantastically well, he still has us over a barrel. Wherever he decides to go he can simply hold us hostage by refusing to play for any other team.

Theabsolute best case scenario is that we sell him for maybe 12m Euros to Juventus. Anything over 5m I think would be a major win.

Depends what form the option to buy takes.

Remember Hearts had the option to buy Rudi Skacel when we signed him, they triggered their option and he had already signed the contract at the beginning of his loan to them so we had to buy from Hearts.

Still leaves Juventus in the driving seat though.

I think Juventus will have him at the option price or decide not to take up the option at all. Football clubs tend to deal reasonably with each other in case they want to do business in the future. Wouldn't worry over much about this...the real danger is he will be crap or get an injury.

Or land a Kung Fu drop kick on his team's physio in front of the TV cameras.

Juve will buy him for around $13m I reckon.

Disappointed it didn't work out for Dani. Was blatantly obvious he was our best striker talent wise, but obviously a bit of a ****.

It now seems clear to me that he didnt want to come here in the first place but was effectively forced by a lack of interest elsewhere at the time. As others have said I can't see Juve buying him for that fee unless he does exceptionally well for them, so have to hope he does well and gets a move to somebody else.

I can't imagine Juve paying below the agreed fee - should Osvaldo do well there. This is a player who will be playing for Italy at the WC. If they don't use their option, there could be a bidding war. It wouldn't make sense to take that risk. I think Saints will have the upper hand - we don't need the cash that desperately.

I can't see them paying the €19m quoted.

From the few reports coming out of Italy Conte seems just a bit obsessed with Osvaldo.

Neither can I, but it's where the sheer insanity of Italian football (and Italian football ultras) could work to our favour...if Dani has an impact in their quest for the scudetto/Europey, they might apply quite a bit of pressure to get him signed up permanently, if the other giants of Serie A are after him.
