Morning All, Isn't it good to see that Leeds are investing in their future! No, I'm not talking about buying back ER, I'm talking about investing in young talent, which can be nurtured and maulded into something special. Last week we heard that we handed a six month contract to ex Southampton winger Ariyibi who can play on either wing, and has blistering pace. Yesterday we handed a debut to highly-rated former Peterborough striker Shaquille McDonald. McDonald, though only 17 is heavily tipped to be the next big thing, and a prolific goal scorer, but a horrific fight involving a baseball bat was enough for the Posh to wash their hands of him. Do we want players like that at ER? Do players deserve a second chance? If we don't snap him up, some other club will! Let me give you some examples :- Lee Bowyer. Although found innocent of assault, there was was in it for Leeds to hand him a maximum club fine. Bowyer refused to play ball. Leeds did the right thing, and West Ham got themselves a gem at just £500,000. He was at least a 5m pound player. Look at Cantona. Misbehaving off the pitch (playing away supposedly with the wife of a Leeds Utd player), thought he was bigger then the club. Wilko did the right thing, he did not want a player like that to represent Leeds Utd. Manure didn't mind, and he single handedly won them eight of so Prem titles in a row. Even when he showed his true colours on the pitch, like the time he kung fu kicked a Palace fan in the stands, they still stood by him. WHY? Not because he was a great guy, and had just made a mistake, because he was worth so much to them as a player. Morals didn't come into it. The question today :- When players like McDonald become available, do we want them? If Aaron Crawley was a decent footballer ...........
Morning all I'll judge them by the time spent at Leeds. Example-Diouf has been the model pro where Hall seemed to carry the attitude on rather than snapping up a chance of turning his career around.
Morning all, lots of exciting news leaking out of ER at the moment but keeping my feet grounded until it all starts to become official.
Morning all As far as Shaq is concerned you have to hope that the kid has grown up because otherwise he's going to be unemployable. How did he get on against Coverntry yesterday? I'm all for dodgy players making their way back into the game as long as they have accepted their failings. I was hoping we would snap up Lee Hughes a few seasons ago as he still had goals in him. Many on the BBC site didn't want anything to do with him, but he's still scoring for fun. Another great example is the yoiung Man City and England kid who killed those people in a car crash in Manchester. He got time and kicked out of City, yet Carlisle have snapped him up and after a months trial have awarded him a 2.5 year contract because he's a great player and the fans up there love him. So Carlisle will be selling the kid on for a huge profit by next season I reckon and fair play to them. Maybe he's the sort of kid we should have got as he comes free. I've seen him interviewed on TV and watched him in a docu, mentary and yesterdays interview shows a humble young kid, who has had his life changed and accepts that he's decimated the lives of 2 families.
Cairns said everyone did well yesterday and he Shaqs looked "good" Brian seems to give trialists a lot more time than other managers as shown by the fact Richard Bryan is still in the mix without actually signing a contract yet
Nice to read a decent article about TC http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....trans-girl-bidding-to-play-football-1-6325258
Morning all. I'm with Bucks. Let's see what Shaks actually does at Leeds. If he's grown up and delivers on the pitch whilst being a model professional off it, all well and good as per Diouf. If, however, he reverts to type, then time to say bye bye. Hall moved to a big club & cleaarly couldn't handle it. Let's hope Shaks doesn't go the same way.
Not interested in the past, if they do the business on the pitch with a Leeds shirt on, then thats good enough for me.
everyone should be given a second chance provided its not a serious offence usually its caused by booze or drug related so I have no problem with giving the lad a trial
Absolutely. I now look forward to looking at and reading everything Leeds. Up to a year ago, everything about the club was torment
seriously it was a chore to go to elland road I used to have to force myself to go. I enjoy it again for the first time in a long time
Just had a quick look at this weekends fixtures and after doing some deep analysis along with NASA scientists, I can now reveal what the table will look like at 5pm Saturday. QPR 43 Burnley 41 Leicester 40 Derby 37 Leeds 36 Reading 34 Forest 32 Blackpool 32 Brighton 31 I obviously know all the scorers too
Morning all Willing to give any player a try regardless of his past but I will make an exception for Marlon King. Great to see young players making their way in to the squad but we will need to balance it out wuth some experienced players. You don't win anything with just kids
Lots of 17 year olds make mistakes, its how they move on from there that counts. Some will grow into fine upstanding adults and deserve the chance. Others like that Cawley fella are hopeless cases and are sadly given far too many chances
Hey Kissa i fully understand what you are saying, BUT can you imagine what those wallies go through season after season........you have to feel for them..........NOT Recently spotted an old chum of yours on our board viewing some threads..........Cumming, or as you called him ****ing
