We're not already called Hull Tigers

We are currently called Hull City AFC. Nickname, The Tigers.

Their is an important difference between "Tigers" & "The Tigers". Castleford are Tigers, Leicester are Tigers, we're Hull City AFC, The Tigers.

 

I seriously doubt many more than the few who attended today would get off their fat arses to protest about anything at City.

I’m sure more than the few who attended to today are anti-change but couldn`t be arsed to alter their stupid **** ‘fan experience’ detail in anyway.

Nationally, apart from moral panics and middle England nimbyism (and also maybe when Newcastle do something else embarrassing), people do **** all about anything especially when it’s not been done directly to them.

But you do agree that it's so subtle that people aren't bothered obviously! It's a shame that this has happened when we're in the prem and need everyone pulling in the same direction! AA has created this problem But he has also saved Hull City AFC

Fine, we'll go start our own football club, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the football club and the blackjack. Ah screw the whole damn thing.

I don't understand why a City fan is glad that the protest was poorly organised and attended and in fact wants to gloat about it. We have a pretty **** fanbase at the moment and I think that's a bad thing, not something to gloat about.

Only 1,000. Even with those 1,000 there we were still down on the Norwich game when half of Hull was on holiday or at Wembley. The one difference? It wasn't our first home game. Pathetic really.

As for the protest, I was there with god knows how few others. There was less there than the Norwich one. I didn't go in late so I don't know how many did but it didn't look like many from the stands. It was poorly organised in a short space of time. We need to do something a bit better than to get a point across. Someone mentioned to me that Newcastle are doing a massive organised sit-in after their home game (think he meant next week when they play us). Imagine that, 50,000 people refusing to leave the ground. That's not ignorable. Sadly our fans just don't care the same as theirs do. They all turned up to watch Harper's testimonial even though it was 'only a friendly' and they 'didn't take it seriously', excuses that keep about 3/4 of the regular KC crowd away when we have a friendly or cup game.

 

I'm just trying to put a point across about why there wasn't a large turn out for the protest! The thread was started by diddy! And all I've done is say my bit and then reply to you! It's a forum!!

 

We could always do a Braveheart style protest.

i.e. the whole of the East stand moonie-ing the West Stand.

Sorry to hear about your dad, but I suspect that away from your keyboard it would have been all too uncouth and plebian for you.

 

It's not subtle to me, it's hideous & bastardizes both our name & our nickname.

I've long defended our owners on here from abuse & criticism that I believed wasn't necessary. I'll also have no problem doing so in the future if I believe it to be warranted. On this occasion, I believe, the underhand way this has been handled, by the owner, shows him to be bit of a megalomaniac. He appears a little short sighted of any long term goals or how to achieve them. He needs advice from a professional in the field of marketing football clubs, unfortunately his personality won't allow this to happen. There is nothing wrong in challenging his decisions, it creates a healthy relationship & he should welcome it. What is wrong is standing by every word he says & believing he can do no wrong, solely because he bought the club & has mainly made the right choices previous to this one.

Short term we, as a club, need to focus on retaining our Premier League status, this in itself will generate more interest abroad then any name change ever could. The distraction of changing our name will not help the club in achieving this goal.

The club have provided no evidence to back up the suggestion that shortening the name (albeit by one letter) will bring financial success abroad. Neither, have they provided evidence which confirms our current name, Hull City AFC, will not produce the same or even increased income in it's own right? To me, this appears a strange business decision. Surely, you would only consider re-branding a product when it has been proven the current brand is failing. To me the decision to re-brand could only be considered after a prolonged stay in the top flight with some sustained success which has produced little or no success into the foreign markets despite continued attempts.

If we pretend he's being genuine about his business plan then why has he still not revealed this great plan to the world? He announced it to the HDM, Calandar & Look North, hardly the international media outlets needed for the onset of world domination.

If he believes fully that this name change is right then he should of come out from day one and said as much. Instead he has bled it in little by little, denying it was happening & subsequently piece by piece admitting it was. To me this insults both the supporters & the club.

They still have my support as owners but I believe quite strongly that on this occasion the decision to change the name of our club is wrong in terms of both football & business. Challenging these changes is not disrespectful as has been suggested, neither is it wrong.

 

Maybe, just maybe, some people have more important things to worry about? I realise the name change is like a dagger to the heart for some but (and I love city and always have) I rock up on a Saturday to watch footy, scream and shout and by and large enjoy myself. I'd prefer it stayed hull city but I've more important things to get worked up about

What I do find strange is these other important things you have going on to get worked up about don't appear to be as important as coming on here & getting worked up about the people who find the decision to change our name important enough to challenge.

You get worked up about the people who are worked up about the name change but not the name change, wonderful.
