No. I've done the maths. Players are worth the wages, points mean prizes. You get 800,000.00 per league place. Darren Bent is worth 5 or 6 league places.. thus, he pays for himself.

Signing players such as Bent would still be a massive gamble. They're still mercenaries demanding a fortune in wages and there's no guarantee of survival. QPR tried that and look what happened, (as did we but with an even weaker squad than QPR last season). We'd be far better off looking at Blackpool's model - OK they were relegated but it was a close-run thing and at least they're still a solvent club. Relegation is no bad thing if the club is in an even stronger position for promotion and survival afterwards, (West Brom style).
