Excellent signature Dan. I've always struggled to put that thought into words.

Gervais is alright. He gets annoying constantly trying to fight a war against religion on Twitter, but his opinions are generally pretty sound.

    *Puts hands up*

I want him to be electrocuted by his balls to death a la the movie 'The Green Mile', death by collision with a train would be upsetting because it can be done without even consciously knowing and therefor not satisfactory.

The defence isn't great, but I don't think it's as bad as it gets made out. It's only being made to look really leaky when the opposition control the midfield. When a quality team has time on the ball and runners in the box, there's not a lot defenders can do.

If this happens next week at Villa at home then we all do have a right to moan at what the hell Nicola and Nigel did in the summer transfer market becauase we need to be beating teams like the Villa at home if we are to have any chance of staying up. But for gods sake we are playing Arsenal for crying out loud and for all there problems they are still a fine attacking side and lets face it no one really expected us to get a result today.

The central midfield was undoubtedly the problem in the first half. They looked really nervous. But unlike some on here, I'm capable of seeing that they're good players on their day, so we don't need to lynch anyone just yet.

Put it in a bit of perspective.................we don't miss out on any more than 3 points whether the score is 1-0 or 21-0. Give the lads a chance we can't judge them on these early fixtures against the top teams.

We've got some easier fixtures next.

Villa at home and Fulham at home.

What gets me is all these cretins who seem to think that all we had to do was pop down the town and nip into the Premier Quality Defenders Shop and pick what we need. You have to be some kind of moron to think that all you have to do is click your fingers and buy what you want. The right quality has to be available. Next the right quality that fits with the strategy has to be available - and if it is it has to be willing to move to the south coast of England and thier existing club has to be willing to sell. Honestly, looking at the intelligence of some people here I am amazed they ever learned to walk on their hind legs.

As other more intellignent people have said - the first four games were always going to be tough. As far as I am concerned, our season starts in about 15 minutes.
