Based on what exactly? No defender in the last 10 years has been head and shoulders above Terry let alone a player who spent his whole career playing for an average P.L team. No offense meant just stating the obvious. Terry has competed at the highest level and won loads of honours. Without injuries King may have done to but it's only conjecture and chances are, he wouldn't have.

    Lol, I'll take that :D

    Agreed.

The stats are daft too. For example, the rate of tackles depends on how the team plays and how good many of their other players. Faurlin averaged the most tackles per game last season and the highest for a defender was Luke Young, what does that mean? Not a lot, neither are exceptional at defenders and the logic is clearly flawed for comparing tackling rates for centre backs when Koscielny was the highest for an out and out centre back in the league last season and he was 23rd overall. Tackling is important for a defender, of course it is, but having a high rate of tackling is clearly not.

    Spot on.

Anyone trying to make a case for JT being better than King on stats alone knows next to nothing about football. It's akin to the Moneyball approach that Damien Comolli used to identify Downing, Henderson, Carroll, & Adam as the players who would make all the difference at Liverpool. You have to actually watch games and anyone who watched King at his peak would be in no doubt as to how good he could have been without his injury.

Better than JT? We'll never know for sure, so as CP says it's a pointless argument.

Agree. He was injured a lot. JT plays through injuries and has won ten trophies. Ledley didn't. So John is better CB.

I'm sure there are lots of 'if only he hadn't been injured so much' sob stories.

Fit players are better than injured players. End of.

ledley's problems with alcohol and violence cannot have helped his rehabilitations either

Haha yeah of course, Ledly injuries. Not like Terry lifted an FA Cup with cracked ribs, or is playing through a reoccurring nerve problem is his back.

No we won't but what we can do, is look at what each player has achieved - the outcome speaks for itself regardless of injuries, misdemeanour's or whatever JT's parents have done to make him a bad person!
