in my honest opinion mate some of the displays this season have made me wonder why do us fans spend so much money watching our team home and away and put up with such lacklustre performances.i guess we are all slightly mad,but roll on next season and lets do it all again and hope like we always do that we will win the league and play some attractive football in doing so.<cheers>

I agree with a lot of what is being said here, Waddock is a good LGE2 manager and he did get us into League1 and perhaps he could do it again. I met him last night at the Awards dinner and he is genuinely a nice bloke with a couple of years left on his contract, so lets see if he can do it again. Still waiting for the announcement from the club which shold be this week as they were waiting to see if Wasps stayed in the Peremiership or not.<confused>

I personally have lost all faith and hope in waddock, regardless of him being a nice bloke.

And i disagree completely with what people are saying about small budgets. As slasher pointed out yeovil have posted a small profit and that was based on a turnover of £2M through the commercial activities at the club our turnover is in excess of £3M and unlike a lot of clubs our debt is in the form of loan notes from hayes and not from a bank charging interest for our borrowings. My other halfs lot all support brentford and they were telling me that they were paying a couple of hundred grand a year in interest, now although i doubt we are getting the loan notes for free they certainly won't be being charged at rates that other clubs are having to shell out on. So the arguements for limited budgets is completely flawed even more so when you take into account the fact that with the exception of about 6-8 clubs we are all of a similar size. It just doesn't stack up as an exscuse for our miserable failings of this year.

In addition does having a lack of resource constitute a lack of effort? Of course not. In too many matches this season there has been far too many games where we have been too meak to even compete with the opposition rochdale, tranmere, brentford, huddersfield, oldham, bournemouth, yeovil the list goes on and this is waddocks fault good guy or not.

And as for being a goog L2 manager??? Really??? I don't even think he is that. Yes he got us promoted in what was a poor league and that was relying a lot on nikki bulls producing absolute miracles - again due to an inadequate defence that was highlighted significantly more this year because of the increase in quality in finishing of L1.

No waddock is not the answer, poor signings, poor tactical decisions, a lack of taking games by the scruff of the neck and more importantly a lack of taking responsibility. And before devon pipes up about being compared to MON at the end of our promotion campaign that certainly wasn't me and if anyone was doing it i think they had expectations far beyond reality.

BUT and this is a big BUT. I/We have had several discussions on this with JS et al about who would come in and quite frankly there is no one there. And now the situation is dimmed even more by the lack of being able to bring in players for next season and until that changes stop thinking about promotion because it just wont happen. As it stands we could potentially have 21 players for next season of which one (ainsworth) is on his last legs and 7 are teenagers who are just breaking into the first team setup that isn't going to get promotion so next season until there is more certainty reality says we have to be competitive and stick with waddock - however much i don't want it.

That doesn't necessarily follow jose but I can't see him going - yet. It doesn't make sense amid all the uncertainty. Ainsworth's appointment could be a move in that direction though.

You certainly couldn't get anyone more enthusiastic in the game. I think I would be happy to give him a chance and reckon his contacts would be useful. You can imagine potential signings meeting with him and being influenced to sign for us because of his passion

Interesting view on our league position next year JS. I think you will find that a mid to lower table finish will potentially lose Waddock his job as the majority of fans expect much more.
Personally I think your sentiments and reasoning are sound and you certainly have the best interests of the club at heart.
At this level you either need a sugar daddy to succeed or alternatively find a gem of a manager that operates really well in the transfer / loan market and gets the best out of average players. I fear Waddock doesn't fit that category and we could be in for a few unsettled years searching for a " messiah"

i kind of agree with js we shouldnt expect much next season ,just to stay in league 2 and bring on the youngsters and hopefully they will be good enough to see us through with a bit of experience from the senior players we already have.there is nothing better as a fan than seeing the youngsters come through the ranks and into the first team and no doubt us blues fans will get behind all the youngsters that wear the light and dark blue quarters.we are in a stage of not knowing whats gonna happen to our club in the future so lets get behind the youngsters and whoever else we manage to get hold of and back em to the hilt.Anthony stewart is one i really think can make a centre half spot his own next season and along with a bit of experience next to him we could see him emerge as the next roger johnson or mike williamson.come on you blues i say and roll on the new season ,lets have some pride and passion back into our performances and show the rest of league 2 what we are made of.

A well thought out and reasoned reply Ron <applause> In particular the bit that said "Perhaps we just can't afford to be in League 1 and maybe no manager would have fared much better".

You guys know you are a small fish compared to many in League 1 although I do also accept the bottom 6 or 7 teams are perhaps on a par with Wycombe. When it comes down to 8 teams fighting it out to avoid the drop then perhaps all it takes is a little more fortune to survive. Lets face it, the other teams are at the bottom end of the table for exactly the same reason you are, they do not have 'top of the range' players or 'top of the range managers', even at L1 level. I would say the managers at that level all make the same mistakes, lack a bit of tactical awareness, motivational skills, coaching skills etc compared to even the managers of teams fighting out for promotion and play off places every season (Huddersfield, Sheff Wed, MK Dons etc). Of course these clubs also have better financial resources as well, which does help.

I would say review his contract in about 18 - 20 months and get behind him in the meantime because Ron is right when he says he may well get you promoted again (I hope for you) <ok>
