I can e.g. the insinuations that they were welcoming Rommel with open arms when in fact the Palestinians were fighting side by side with the British, meanwhile the Israeli paramilitaries were killing British troops.

But I cant be bothered with the time commitments these threads involve for what is basically butting my head against a brick wall.

I didn't say the "desired effect". I said it had the "effect". I have no idea whether that was the desired outcome or not but that was indeed the outcome. I was being matter of fact about it. Don't mistake that for a justification.

I raised the point of it being under the banner of the South Armagh Republican Action Force to illustrate that undertaking such an act would not sit comfortably with supporters of the Provisionals

The United Kingdom has done some bad ****.

The United Kingdom has done some good **** aswell.

The IRA has done no good ****.

To the OP, Israel will never have peace in the middle east as the middle east has many people who think people not from their lands living in their land is wrong. Very ironic isnt it?

Mike, I can't remember the last time the government of the UK had a majority in percentage terms. So any disagreeable act was not in most of our names i.e. we didn't vote for it. Wriggle room.

As for NI, maybe I'm naive but I'd never have played a part in ANY of the killings. I'm quite right wing but I can't see how anyone can justify gunning down protestors or laying bombs in civilian areas. I can see where the IRA were coming from in terms of taking out military targets however, this military was pretty much unable to respond. Sitting ducks.

The difference between guerilla warfare and conventional warfare. We have the military capability to wipe out all life on the island of Ireland. We are there as peace-keepers.

Genuinely this was an idea proposed by Maggie to wipe us out.

Yes, you were here as peacekeepers and failed miserably.

    That was the story that came out from David Goodhall a couple of years back during the negotiations for the Anglo Irish agreement. She wanted to wipe out the population. I can't remember it word for word but it ended up something like;

    Goodhall;..........You mean like Cromwell
Maggie:....Yes, that is right, why can't we do that?

    Something like that.

Tenuous. Never going to happen. We, the English people, have a close bond with they, the American people, some of whom are paddies.

You (you see how I'm holding you responsible, personally) kept the peace consistently against one side to the point where some 95%+ of civilian deaths at the hands of your army were on one side.

I believe that Churchill once made a similar point, that during the War Britain was extremely restrained in not invading Ireland for the territorial advantage it would have gained. Thanks a lot for not adding to the well established list of times where you as the strong country have ****ed the smaller weak nation <ok>

I'm not sure you could call a government willing to send troops to Finland to fight Russia while being at war with Germany restrained

No... the Palestinian Leadership were busy sipping tea with Hitler in Berlin...

please log in to view this image

Here's the Grand Mufti of Jerualem Haj Amin al-Husseini (Yasser Arafat's uncle) with Hitler in Berlin in 1941.

He then spent the rest of World War II as Hitler’s special guest in Berlin, advocating the extermination of Jews in radio broadcasts back to the Middle East and recruiting Balkan Muslims for infamous SS “mountain divisions” that tried to wipe out Jewish communities throughout the region.

At the Nuremberg Trials, Eichmann’s deputy Dieter Wisliceny (subsequently executed as a war criminal) testified:

"The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan.

He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz".

The only Palestinians who fought alongside the British during WWII were 5,000 Jews, who formed the Jewish Brigade.

In fact, even the paramilitary groups who opposed British rule prior to WWII signed-up en mass to the British Army and many of their members, including several leaders, were killed in action.

It would only be several decades later before the Arabs invented the myth that they were Palestinians.

Sounds about right - she used to deal with these kind of things with the casual aloofness most of us would employ to get a spider out of the bathtub. Evil, vindictive, malevolent ****bucket. Her death won't come a day too soon.

I suspect all muslim leaders have posters of Hitler in their bedrooms. Some may even have Hitler beds.

Lets be honest though, every leader of a muslim nation wouldnt hesitate to wipe out israel so when israel hit back there can be no complaint from governments. The people are a different matter, nobody knows what the majority think as its all about the scum governments.

Rebel never said that at all Mick. You adding in the word "desired" completely alters what he posted.
