What would stop people moaning?

Winning a trophy, putting in a good competitive fight into the season, like in 07-08 for example, we didn't win anything, but that was one very good team and a very good season as we were very close to achieving success, only 4 pts behinds the eventual champions manunited, and only lost 3 times in the entire season, 2 of those losses being away to United and Chelsea, so was a very good effort, sadly we blew it in the summer by letting go of some key players and failing to add the needed strength that would have pushed us all the way.

The way we play now is certainly a cause for moaning, we have had two horrendous performances 1 after the other, 4-0, and 2-0, last month we went 3 games in a row with a loss in the league, 4 games in a row without a win in the league, 1 win in a total of 6 league games, and earlier in the season got hammered 8-2, had the dreadful 4-3 loss to Blackburn who are fighting for survival, and the list goes on, who WOULDN'T moan with such sh!ttiness?

I agree with that fella. I don't think Wenger can't accept any criticism really, but he's well within his right to defend himself from that which he feels is wide of the mark. It's easy to criticise from the outside, but far more difficult to actually affect positive change on the inside.

On Sunday I will be singing my heart out and supporting the players as I believe that as a fan it's up to us to get behind the team and try to lift them. <ok>

They should try to lift us up once in a while instead of us always having to lift their sorry a$$es up, what about all the fans that went to Milan, and then Sunderland? Shouldn't it be the players and manager trying to lift the fans up and making it up for them?

I believe the opposite is true. I think it's up to the fans to give the players a lift. Not sit there and expect to be 'entertained' before they start cheering.

If you take a look through the threads there are a vast number of suggestions on what we should do to arrest our decline. It is these things that would ultimately create a more positive air.

Sorry, after all the negativity they have put us through, and making me go all the way to Milan to watch that disaster, they are the ones who need to lift me up and entertain me, not the other way round.

totally understand that mate. they should at least refund the match ticket prices of all the fans that made that trip - it must have been crushing to travel all that way and witness that.

You miss my point.

The solution lies in addressing those issues.
 
Wumpole, telling ourselves that we are better than we are hasn't worked out for us either, we have in fact worsened each year apart from one.

I think the problem has been we have ALL been brainwashed by talk of how good we were even though we fell short year after year. I think what is happening now is the realisation that .. we really are not as good as we all believed we were and are speaking out in anger. Its been a slight of hand by the club continually eroding the quality of players but telling us we can't afford this and that on one hand and on the other that money is available for Wenger if he chooses.

How we all laughed and took pleasure when the pundits predicted our demises year in year out but it didn't materialise, but he who laughs last ... and all that caper.
 
Wenger is his own worst enemy, he is stubborn in the extreme and treats the fans as fools, some of his tirades remind me of 'chemical Ali'.

What is needed wether AW goes or stays is at least 3 quality signings and a new assistant manager. this season has been a disaster starting with the 8-2 at OT and made worse at Blackburn, Swansea and Milan.

If changes aren't made attendances will suffer as things decline further. The buck stops with Wenger and if he won't adapt he should go and let Pep Guardiola have a chance.

With respect, no one made you go to Milan!

One thing you learn very quickly on Euro away days, even in the good times is that you go for the crack as much as the football otherwise you'll end of very disappointed more often than not.

As for who should be lifting who? It works both ways so get behind your team through thick & thin <ok>

Supa I'm really surprised at this remark.

Arsenal 87 chose to go to Milan to support the team. It's pretty obvious that he like us are disappointed with the result and also that the team bar Henry and Chesser did not acknowledge the fans who made the journey after the match.

And are you happy with that?

Would you not rather we win most of the time?

I'm not sure what to expect of that trip but I'm sure no one made allowances for such a mauling and perhaps a lacking in fight and spirit.

I'm pretty sure Arsenal 87 like the others who made the trip went to cheer the team.

No one is saying we don't get behind the team. We all do. What we do say though is that there are issues which should be addressed because the club and all connected with it and that includes the fans deserve better.
 
It's not just our poor run of form and disappointing results. It's the fact that most of us feel that the club is not headed in the right direction. Without much hope for the future, there is little to be cheerful about. If we did some of the things suggested on these boards, made a good go of it but still missed out on a trophy I would be far more happy with the situation than constant denial from Wenger and the board that something is wrong with the way we do things.

Why are you surprised it's factual? No one forced him to buy a ticket no one forced him to get on the plane.

The point that I'm trying to make here is. Euro away trips tended to be expensive in both time and money with out any guarantee of a win. So I'm am not saying being disappointed is the norm, I'm saying most seasoned travelers tend to make the most of the trip & treat the football as a bonus if we win

Maybe Arsenal 87 did go to cheer the team & I'm doing him a disservice. But the point here is while I don't disagree with many of the points of views about the current decline of our club, there are far to many so called supporters on here feeling sorry for themselves or seemingly revealing in being "Proven right".

As I say at the end of the day true supporters SUPPORT their teams through thick & thin <ok>

Hotty, you won't find a post from me stating that there are no problems at the club, with the board, team or manager. You won't find anything from me that puts me in this fabled 'in Wenger we trust' group that many of the cry babies keep referring to either. What you will find are plenty of posts from me attacking a couple of posters that do nothing but continuously bleat on and on and on with the same dull mantra about how **** we are. How many 'I hate AW' threads a day does it need to put a message over to a few forum users? I have nothing against their opinion as a rule, even Jamrag has started to post his opinions as opinion rather than fact, quite an improvement :)

You talk of brainwashing and I think that is what the Jamrag crew are doing. They have already zombified Victor and are now turning a couple of other members with weaker than average minds <coughoxocoughpiskie> and are making this club a laughing stock amongst other club's fans. They do it knowing all this to be true and seem to be enjoying every minute of it.

That is what winds me up along with being attacked for being supportive of my club.

I raised the brainwashing - and I am not zombified.....
I have a perfectly logical rational brain - and know saying and doing nothing about a problem or a sequence of problems will NOT lead to a solution. doh.

enjoy being a lemming with no brain. go on follow and jump with the others - it will be fine..
