And players like Biscan for a long time...not saying he's perfect and he needs to improve but he's not without ability, granted it was Wolves who look pretty piss poor but him and Spearing played decent enough...think he'll do ok in the long run me.
Adam's alright, sure. But he can't tackle for a biscuit and tries a bit too hard to impress at times with the hollywood balls when the simple ones would suffice. He's got quality no doubt, but needs refining. He'd be better with Lucas and Spearing behind him where he can just float around and do what he wants.
Yep. Enrique was a colossus for us today and deserves all the plaudits he receives. Thought the second half was brilliant, today. We put away a decent number of our chances. Two halves like that in a game and we'll be close to double figure games. A touch of an exaggeration but I still believe we'll have one game this season when almost all our chances will be converted... and I'm going to love that!
Any chance it could be at United in a couple of weeks? Can you imagine getting beaten by City 6-1 at OT and then us coming there and beating them by a similar score with Suarez getting a hatrick.
Definitely. He's still relatively young for a central midfielder. Hopefully will deliver many more decent balls for a fired-up Carroll to put away! YNWA
Yeah he's never going to be the kind of player who gets you top 4 or wins leagues for you on his own but he's the kind of player (and Spearing) that it does no harm to have in your squad if you want to be challenging. We need a strong squad of players who are capable of playing a good number of first team games...it's not rocket science I see good things in him but still appreciate he has lots more to do if he wants to be at Anfield long term.
People read the game different,Lucas and Kuyt have had there critics in the past but Ive always liked both of them, always been a big fan But I havnt like Charlie since the 1st game I saw him for some reason.Thes are theb reasons why For me, hes a bit like that Amy Childs off TOWIE, looks good from the outside but no substance Plays far too many long passes which dont work, either dont reach target, or are cut out because of the time it takes to get to the target, someones able to intercept He thinks hes better than he is Keep the ball ON THE FLOOR, it makes it easier for the receiver to control,Adam passes arrive at the receiver at knee level far too often Alonso was immense at passin on the deck, and he was a quick passer, all 1 2 touch, the ball reached its target easy to control for the person receiving,Alonso was slow as f**k, but the tempo of the side was very quick when he played, because his passing was accurate,1 2 touch, on the floor.Adams all about 30/40 hollywood balls being cut out.Technically He isnt in the same stratosphere as Alonso, his passin, 1st touch, aint good enough,Tempo of the team is not runnin about a lot, its about 1 2 touch football and good movement off the ball, moving the ball quickly My opinion, and I think its similar to other LFC fans I would say to Adam I wanna see him passin the ball on the floor, no further than 15 yds, and no more than 3 touches, if he did that he could become a really good player Downings problem is LACK of confidence,Adam thinks hes better than he is
I'll luck's starting to change, we're getting the 'rub of the green' more so than earlier this season. Soon enough I think we've got a 6-0 in us. With Suarez coming back, Bellamy on fire, Carroll finding good form, Gerrard, Kuyt with his confidence back, and a top notch back four. If only we had Lucas <gutted> The main thing is we're actually starting to score goals!
In fairness did you expect him to be Alonso...it is a harsh comparrison as it would be to expect Henderson to ever be half as good as Stevie G...or Spearing with Mascherano. And if you feel you have to compare them then think back to Alonsos first six months. Plenty of Liverpool fans weren't particullarly enamoured with him straight away either....oh he's too slow, he can't tackle or beat a man, half his hollywood passes don't find the man...etc etc Alonso came good because he played...and got game time and got used to playing with the same team every week. Didn't happen overnight as is very often the case. I don't expect him to be another Alonso but I'll be happy if he keeps doing the things he can do well and works on and improves where he's weaker. A view I know I share with a few other LFC fans.
Wasnt havin a go at you , was just tellin you why some LFC fans arent that keen on him.Like I say always like Kuyt,Lucas ,like Hendo and Downing ( needs to be more aggressive/confident), for some reason never liked Adam, people see things different, just telling you why I dont get him
The guys hilarious. I swear he never thinks before he speaks. The media will love him for years to come.
No mate I know your not having a go and I can defo see why you have yr doubts...I have as well but he deserves a chance to prove himself eh if he doesn't improve then he won't be around long that's obvious but for me he's had a better start than some others. Maybe he won't make it in the long run but personally I can see him being a valuable squad member for a long time
But that's why Alonso is worth 30mil and Adam is worth 8mil? It's like comparing Ronaldo to Downing, Messi to Kuyt... Some players are better than others and as such are worth a lot more. Adam was never going to be as good as Alonso but he's not as bad as a lot of people make out. We need strength in depth and I'd rather have him on the bench to be able to bring on than an unproven 18 year old at the moment.
I agree with all the Adam weaknesses mentioned so far: but 1) was he bought for his defensive prowess because I seriously doubt it: no scout went to Blackpool matches & came back to Kenny & said " He'll be a perfect back up for Lucas Boss!" He was bought with the idea Lucas or Spearing would give him freedom to do his diagonals & shooting. Little unlucky he's been exposed in first 6 months. On other note: Hendo looked fab tonight, Enrique as usual, Carroll looking more & more comfortable in team. I know, I know, qualify with who we were playing but I know half of you had that little voice saying before the match "this is the one of the next 4 well probably lose; going by season so far!" So good job; this fan can't ask for more in this match.
wednesday morning hangover thread coming for my full review but i was angry with adam i nthe first half last night. I was deliberately watching him and the amount of bloody times he just wandered off upfield with his back to the ball when the CBs had it was terrible. this is a particular bug bear of mine and gerrard is very guilty of it... they want to get closer to goal but i nreality they need to be taking that ball, or just pulling a midifleder with them to create space by coming short or even just offering an option. Wolves could mark us up deep cos he and to be frank spearing were at this.
i think this game was won by bellamy... enrique did better today and really hunt aint up to playing him. enrique made some great passes and played well, henderson worked very hard and agger was superb. For the first time i got what carroll was about simply beacuse he went and did it. He played...ok he's not mobile and never will be but he put himself about, looked a forward and wanted to get i nthe box, plus he didn't give it away that much. Thats progress. I think we have to keep faith with carroll v spurs or we'll ruin him. Kuyt played nominal right wing and did very well as well... for me a 4-4-2 could pay dividends next weekend
