Even if Cabaye is charged surely we can just appeal it and show the FA all the stuff english players have done and have got away with.

Mick McCarthy tried that and Milijas still got banned for a good tackle. The FA just make it up when it suits them, no transparency whatsoever.

And Cabayes dirty now? This 'stamp' and an admittedly cowardly foot up on Spearing do not a Cattermole make.

I'm not convinced its a kick at all, the media seem to have a bizarre concept of how much thought you can have as you're falling arse over tit. Its deliberate because Cabaye moves his leg? Who gets flattened and manages to land perfectly flat to avoid injury? It's half a second of movement, how much intentional violence can you formulate in that time? Best thing I read was a comment on a BBC blog about Balotelli, who reckoned in mid fall Mario had time to spot the ref, realise he wasn't looking, then kick Parker. I honestly think people believe players can think in slow motion.

Trial by facial expression is nonsense too, he's annoyed because he's just been taken from behind (which he should be used to with us around...), who isn't? That doesn't mean he kicked him.

I think it could go either way, but the only one who knows is Cabaye himself.

There was definetly a secondary movement from Cabaye that was nothing to do with falling over. Regardless of loss of control it was just a blatant kick out. As I say I can't see why anyone has a major problem with it. He was dealing with a guy that was intent on kicking him and the rest of Newcastles players out of the game. We've all seen the types before and will do again. As for his facial expression, when you watch it again, his face changes as he kicks out. He was already annoyed because he'd been upended again, but you can see his face change as he kicks out. Not nonsense at all because it shows intent. That they are now saying the ref will look at it is bad news for us I think and shows the ambiguity in the rule about what a ref saw.

Personally I hope Cabaye retains this side to him because as a playmaker, you need to be able to stand up for yourself. Whether we like it or not that will involve some nasty stuff.

As for comparing Cabaye to Cattermole, keep off the reefers Marcus! I assume this was tongue in cheek? Cattermole and Cabaye are two very different cases. Putting derbies to one side which can be tempetuous at the best of times, Cattermole has a different history to Cabaye. When you kick Cabaye, he gives you it back but he has rarely knowingly gone to hurt someone intentionally. Cattermole is the other side in that he is the guy who will kick off the trouble. He does go to kick folk and is usually the one doing the provoking. (that is to be expected given their roles - one a destroyer, one a ball player) Whereas I have no problem with players sticking up for themself or indeed players winding one another up. Some of Cattermoles challenges are just thuggery.

Well that's not right, his angry face isn't til after the kick, he isn't even looking at the player as the movement happens as he's still falling over. Looking annoyed about being fouled is not evidence of retaliation.

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/30012012/63/el-abd-cabaye-deserved.html

That fat bald ****er that was fouling our players all game, talking **** to Best and trying to piss everyone off, has gone to the press saying Cabaye deserved to be sent off.

****ing baldy fat **** was blatantly pushing his luck, and I would have liked to have seen him try that with Tiote.

Tiote doesn't kick or punch when angry, he just creams players with rough challenges, and Tiote would have annihilated the ****ing ****.

<grr>

There's already at least one other topic about this incident (and you were wrong in that one too), why start another?

Yeah but everyone loved it when Barton did it for us. Don't be a hypocrite Tash.

Barton gave as good as he got, he got so much **** and the FA didn't care, as soon as he did something, everyone was fuming.

At least Barton didn't provoke anyone and then go running to the papers trying to get them suspended.

Cabaye is not a thug, he just lashed out when provoked. He shouldn't have done it, but still, the bald guy is 10x more pathetic than anyone who lashes out at him.

The only reason Barton got as much as he did was his previous (dubious) history and the amount of ****e he talked in the press and on the pitch. He was a wind-up merchant simple as. I've got nothing against that because he's simply using the mind games on the pitch which managers use off it. El-Abd was clearly doing a similar thing against us and it worked. Cabaye is a grown man and he should know how to control his emotions.

In my opinion, a worky ticket has no right to complain when he gets hit.

That's like slapping someone in the back of the head to get a reaction, and then when you get a bite, cry to the authorities.

We can all sit hear and judge Cabaye, but if you're in the middle of a game, emotions are high, you're getting tired, and all game this fat **** has been pushing around your team mates and you, it can get you frustrated.

IMO it should not be a suspension, they should both be given a chance to apologise to each other, and that should be that.

It wasn't very serious, I doubt the El-Abd felt it much, he clearly over reacted.

El Abd is probably around 14 stone, he's man enough to bully others, so he should be man enough to shut the **** up when he gets hit back.

Winding someone up then complaining when you get a reaction is pathetic.

I agree. But life in real life is not like life on the football pitch Tash. It doesn't matter if you get booted around the pitch, get up and let your football do the talking. El-Abhd is a gritty Championship player who is never going to be a Premiership footballer, he has no talent, so going around kicking people is about all the enjoyment he gets out of football. You are talking as if this is Sunday League, Tash, it's not just the case of "this bloke has been niggling me all game, I'm going to do him, but that's ok because the FA will understand cos he's a twat". The FA doesn't work like that I'm afraid, and as far as I'm concerned, Cabaye was in the wrong 100%, regardless of how much the other bloke wound him up. He's playing for a team currently on course for Europe, already missing three of it's key players with some big games coming up, and he goes and lashes out like that. He should have known better, but sadly, I have to admit Cabaye is a dirty player, and he can give it but can't take it. There is no call for trying to kick someone on a football pitch, that's what's annoyed me.

I know mate, you really didn't have to tell me this. I'm not saying I condone what Cabaye did, and he should know that it can cost the team when he does things like this.

However, I think we should be a little bit more understanding at times. If a player has been wound up all game, sometimes he will lash out and in my opinion, the worky ticket is the more pathetic one and he should get suspended as well.

It was clear that El-Abd was trying to piss our players off, he was talking **** to Best all game.

Then well done to him, it worked! Players should be able to keep their heads, and if not then suffer the consequences.

i'd of got up and then kicked him so i could get more power in. That **** was fouling our players all match.

Didn't one of the other players go into injure Cabaye with a two foot tackle in the 1st half and only got a yellow card, the referee gave us no protection and yet booked Simpson and Best for nothing. The cheat will get Cabaye done regardless of whether he meant it or not.
