Cabaye to get 3 match ban?

Can't believe people are saying Cabaye isn't that type of player, he clearly is.

Also, the FA didn't punish Rooney last year for elbowing that Wigan player, and this year he kicked Coloccini twice in front of the ref and Ben Arfa got booked for it.

Cabaye's kick may have been wrong, but IMO the person that commits the violent conduct is no where near as pathetic as the one that tried to provoke it.

I had players like that fat baldy ogre looking **** going around fouling players and kicking the **** out of them to get a bite.

The baldy guy IMO should also be banned as it's exactly what he wanted Cabaye to do.

That El-Abd (y'know the baldy guy) looks like a right nasty peice of work. He was constantly trying to get a reaction from Best at set-peices.

Not defending Cabaye though, he lashed out deliberately and doesn't really have much cause for complaint is he is banned. He needs to realise that he will get kicked a lot and opposition players will try to wind him up because he is one of our key men. Once he learns to dust himself down and laugh it off the provocation will die down. Having a reputation as a hothead just means you get targeted every game (see Joey Barton).

I would not say Cabaye has a nasty streak or anything, he just has a quick fuse. If he gets a ban then it will be a complete joke after the FA have turned a blind eye from Rooney, Lescott, Crouch, etc.

Anybody suggesting Cabaye did not kick him on purpose needs to take off the B&W specs. Its as blatant as it gets. His face told the whole story. I don't think meant to necessarily tried to kick him in the head, but there can be no doubt he kicked out at him. Should have been sent off but it was diffcult for the ref or linesman to give. They've said they saw it at the time and took no action so I can't see him having a case to answer. Lescott was a lot more blatant. Cabaye is dirty, we have to get used to that. To be fair he only reacts to what is being dished out. The guy from Brighton was filth. He kicked Cabaye all game and the kick on Benni was the final straw.

Why anybody has a problem with Cabaye fighting fire with fire I'm not sure. You get nothing in football for being a pussy. If he allows himself to get intimidated easily, his time in England will be short. People need to be realistic about football, and professional football in particular. You can't expect players to be angels and sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. There will be those who talk about the purity of the game and ridding the game of this side to it. However the dark arts have and will always be part of football. Anybody who has played any level of football will know all this crap goes on. You have to indulge and try and give a bit back on the sly. Cabaye was reasonably successful and cute in how he went about it on Saturday, there is enough doubt for him to be ok. Good on him. he must remember not to get carried away with it and let his football and passing talk of course, but the odd bit of dirty play to stand up to filthy players is all good.

I've no doubt Cabaye kicked out on purpose, but don't think any player would have the intent to catch him in the head /face and that includes Ballottelli.
The knuckle dragger was after a reaction all game and pretty much pushed Cabaye to the ground when he kicked him.
Not saying it's right but it did look like a shaving cut and his lip didn't even swell up so couldn't have been as bad as he made out.
Also was it not the same player that elbowed Williamson in the mouth and properly bust his lip??

I think Cabaye's looks a bit more dubious than Ballotelli's and it could be seen as putting a leg out tp protect himself or to kick out.
So far nothing has been said and I've tweeted MSiDouglas and Lee Ryder to see if they know if it'll be taken any further.

We can only wait and see.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's proven that he did it, he deserves everything he gets. It's the only way he'll learn that it isn't acceptable. I hate seeing that in football, especially from a player that I respect.

Tbf el-abd played it tactically perfect. I dont blame him for trying to wind up and out muscle players that are technically better. Thats why a lot of prem teams struggle with lower league teams. I dont think Cabayes kick had intentions of hurting him but u cant do it, simple as that

I just hope that the FA realise that the Brighton player in question was getting at every NUFC player near him all game and Cabaye snapped.

The FA are so damn inconsistent with these decisions though that you can't predict how a review will turn out.

Much as I'd like to agree, the incident was not one flowing movement - he fell over, then both feet pushed outwards, then he changes his body position and gets up. If he doesn't get a ban, we've got away with it.

However watching it again on the clip above it does look malicious, I think his frustration is clearly showing in his face. Well, not much more we can say one way or the other. I would just point out that slow motion replays can be deceiving. They're great when you want to know what happened (eg, did the ball cross the goal line) but can be misleading when the question is one of intent. Everything looks intentional if you show it slowly enough. He fell over and he shoved out his legs. You show it slow and it looks like he must have shoved out his legs because he wants to hit the other player. Maybe.

I'm not convinced its a kick at all, the media seem to have a bizarre concept of how much thought you can have as you're falling arse over tit. Its deliberate because Cabaye moves his leg? Who gets flattened and manages to land perfectly flat to avoid injury? It's half a second of movement, how much intentional violence can you formulate in that time? Best thing I read was a comment on a BBC blog about Balotelli, who reckoned in mid fall Mario had time to spot the ref, realise he wasn't looking, then kick Parker. I honestly think people believe players can think in slow motion.

Trial by facial expression is nonsense too, he's annoyed because he's just been taken from behind (which he should be used to with us around...), who isn't? That doesn't mean he kicked him.

I think it could go either way, but the only one who knows is Cabaye himself.

Totally agree. Watch it 'real time' and you don't even see a kicking leg, just a tangle of limbs! How much thought can a player put into maliciously kicking at someone else in a split second?

cabaye doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to go around kicking people for no reason. That's why this is suprising. maybe he got pissed off of being fouled repeatedly by this guy.

From what I've seen of him he is a dirty player - have seen him commit 4 or 5 challenges as bad as/worse than I've seen players sent off for this season and he seems to be able to get away with it - he's Newcastle's "Cattermole" but Cattermole already has a reputation so always gets done for it whereas Cabaye seems to be able to do it without being punished - if he gets a 3 match ban for it (looks deliberate to me but I could also see how a panel may see it as just a tangle) then he may have to change his game

Not saying that Cabaye isn't a dirty player after the few incidents we've seen this season, but he's no Cattermole. Cattermole assumes the role of the talentless idiot thug, whereas Cabaye has a tendency to put in nasty little digs rather than acting like an out and out bruiser.

I'm not going to defend him over this latest incident; he clearly meant to kick out. Whether it's aimed at the head or not makes no difference.
