The problem here is that the MP in question most likely forgot about the 2018 tweet. What it clearly demonstrates here is that there are very few politicians of any political persuasion that can be trusted to act in anything other than their own self interest.

In other news I hugged a mag last night in the Linga Longa bar in Sanur. After the usual banter he actually said that Sunderland did well last season and deserve the plaudits.

Not one to stick up for Onwurah but there are levels. She got £2,200 in total from NUFC, and more than likely declared it. Farridge got £5,000,000 and tried to hide it. That is the difference. More than 2,272 times the difference. Or in time, Onwurah's money is half an hour. Farridge's is 57 days.

The money is not the issue here, that's another matter.

It is her rank and flagrant hypocrisy, toadying up to islamist fanatics to grub some votes. MPs are often wont to do this, but I can't ever recall a more egregious example.

You’re dead to me now. ;-)

I should have this printed on cards to give out to Mags on trains ...

... and save me an hour explaining why Newcastle aren't a big club.

Wow, that clearly shows the problem every club outside of the , so called, big 6 have.
How the hell do you grow your income stream to compete with that.

In Newcastle's case they need to build an 85,000 seater stadium, bring in concerts, NFL, etc, plus hotels, golf, etc ...

... but the Saudis are already getting all the sportswashing attention they need, so what's the point.

Is there another column or two missing?

I take your point , it really isn't realistic for a provincial club to break into this club. The drawbridge has been pulled up, you cannot buy your way to the top, well you can if you are already there but for anyone else it's virtually impossible.
I think I shall just have to accept that SAFC can only make small incremental steps but hopefully after a number of years we can get into a position to at least challenge.
In some ways it's great that you can't just buy a title now, but how you break down the existing, almost, unfair advantage certain clubs have and provide a genuinely competitive league where anyone of say 12 clubs could win the title I really don't know.
However it could be fun finding out.

This is why I honestly believe KLD will now sell the club.

What's been achieved is incredible but the next stage is this 'times ten'.

7th to 6th is one small step for Man Utd but a giant leap for Sunderland <laugh>

Once again I take your point.
The question I ask is whether KLD saw Sunderland as purely a business venture. If so then I agree now is probably the time to sell as future returns on investment are likely to be lower than in the past 4 years,
The next question is what if it wasn't purely a business venture and that KLD has set himself the task of taking a 3rd division provincial club to the top?
KLD could literally live a billionaire lifestyle doing very little work and just enjoy himself every day and yet he bought SAFC. Why?
At this point we just don't know.
I can't pretend to understand what motivates KLD to get out of bed in the morning, he may just want to make more money or he may have some other reason. Whatever it is will become clear over a period of time. In the meantime I'll just enjoy the ride, its been fun, so far.

You could argue we aim for 6th not because it is easy but because it’s hard. ;-) to quote jfk

Good post.

Sake of argument; KLD is worth £2.5b, if he sold SAFC now he would probably make £200m. A lot of money to us but to him it would be a good deal but it is not going to change his life. When you see his mum and the the rest of the family at the SOL enjoying themselves it looks (I could be wrong) that it’s way more than just a business venture.

Of course time will tell but I genuinely think KLD, his family and entourage want to make a statement with our club. If they do decide to sell hopefully, given how the club has risen under their leadership, we will get a good buyer.

I think the key to their plans will be the SOL expansion or not. I think we can get a lot of work done for way less than the £250m quoted but if they go for the £250m plan I would imagine they are here for the long term unless a silly offer came along. If £250m was spent on the SOL, given its easy expansion design, it would make it not only one of the best stadiums in this country but the world. Given Sir Bob’s positive comments last year after seeing the designs I really hope the expansion is sooner rather than later as it will give us loads of opportunities to grow our corporate market and importantly get more kids in to build our future fanbase.

In relation to this thread, those up the road with a fatally flawed SJP and mega expensive options for relocation can only dream of being in our position. Hopefully we force our fantastic position home.
