100% agree .... including the 'alarming' red colours rather than the old nice smiley sun graphic they used to use.
That said, when talking of 'the good old days' ...... bit worrying looking back to times we didn't know any better .... like going spud picking all day long with bare top in the open fields, no suncream, no hat ..... then following days covered in peeling skin from the sun burn. Not sure that was particularly good!?!?!
I worked for twenty years in a foundry and then a pottery in Hull where it was hot all the time and I mean hot, it had to be for the process to work. All we ever got in the heat of summer was a vat of orange juice to share amongst the workforce. No-one ever missed a days work because it was 'too hot'. On the BBC this morning there was some high ranking school headmaster saying schools would have to close because 'its too hot'. Too hot my arse, I don't remember it being 'too hot' when I was at school, we just spent more time outside enjoying it, now its bad for kids apparently. **** me its summer. We held school sports days on days like this.
Like last night during the France and Iraq game. It was pissing it down in an open topped stadium yet they still stopped play for a hydration break!!!! Then they turned the sprinklers on, ten minutes later every one was running for cover as the heavens opened and the match was abandoned. World's gone soft/mad.

And if the kids are off because its too hot, where will they be, outside with pals where its too hot...and likely without any sunscreen,,,

Or getting watched by their Grandparents or a parent who has had to take a day off work to watch them?

The Muppets that make these bizarre requests never think of the consequences.

In terms of population density, there'd be plenty of room up in Scotland for them, and Mr Swinney would be delighted to enrich this time Country even more than he has done already.

I'm sure there'd be room in Holyrood for 129 ponies to replace the one's currently sitting.
129 ponies?

Why don’t the meat eaters just eat them?

Think that was the Romanian horses.
I put some meat on a roll one morning in my mates house in Belgium, they just used to lay out loads of breads, meats, cheeses etc and I thought it was sliced silverside or something?

Took a bite and my mate made a big horsey noise and started pissing himself laughing...The Dirty Flemish bastards!!

What’s the difference though really? (Other than misleading advertising…and taste I assume)
If you eat a cow there’s no ethical difference in eating a horse, dog or cat presumably?
The difference to me is I wasn't brought up with my parents putting horse, dog or cat on the table?

I'm not a huge fan of steak or beef either if truth be told,I prefer a bit of chicken or fish.

A few years ago.

On a training course at a factory in France, dinner time was a 3 course meal in the works canteen with wine. Four of us at the table and of course the standard jokes about horse meat, so we get to Friday and the waiter tells us that the sausage were having is a local speciality. I give it a minute or two till the others have had a bite of their sausage and then say You know that horse we've been eating all week well it must have had a big cock because we've all got 6 inches of it. The clang of 3 set of knives and forks hitting the table could be heard all over the canteen.

Yeah I get that
Mind you I wasn’t brought up with lobster on the table, but was happy enough eating that when I was able to afford it.
Obviously it’s only me thinking about it a different way since I stopped eating any animals though, but I just find it a bit odd now why people think skinning cows is worse than skinning dogs that’s all (reminded me the other day when I saw what looked like a skinned camel)

You’re hungry enough you’ll eat anything to survive

In 1976 the highest recorded temperature was 35.6 degrees, this week is expected to exceed 40 degrees.

In 1976 there were 3,000 heat related deaths in the U.K., despite being significantly hotter now, there’ll be less deaths due to better messaging and increased awareness.

Though despite all that messaging, there’s still idiots out walking their dogs.
