I'd be sanguine about swapping Gyokeres for Alvarez as long as it was about £50m in cash too. We already have a physical oaf up front in Havertz, Alvarez at least provides a top drawer highly technical alternative who can also play #10. Gyokeres, even though I love his personality, is not dynamite enough to not be sellable.

I would be absolutely livid if this happens !!! How you vsn call Havertz physical is a bloody mystery. Alvarez is nothing special and is too small, its not like he is an Ian Wright.

Gyokeres provides so much more of what we need. Alvarez' best at City - with prime City, was a paltry 11 league goals in a season, Gyokeres beat that in a team playing negative football and that did not play to his strengths even remotely !

You don't think Havertz is physical? He's up there as one of the strongest in the team. Alvarez I don't think is a world beater, but I think he's better than Gyokeres. And I don't think Gyokeres offers a lot more than Havertz does. They overlap a lot in their qualities. If Havertz stayed fit, then I don't think Gyokeres gets much game time. I'm not averse to Gyokeres staying as I like him. But swapping them I'd be moderately fine with.

Mate, Gyokeres has been OK, but he's not at Havertz level and we need an option IMO of a fast striker that plays off the shoulder AND has the ability to beat players.
I am not sure Alvarez is the answer, but I would not be against bringing in a new striker with Gyokeres involved in the deal the other way.
I don't mind Gyokeres but he's not set teh world alight with us at all.
As for Kai - there is not doubt he holds the ball up and links play better than Gyokeres - whether that is 'physicality' or just because he is more intelligent as a footballer is ope to debate. I think it's the latter.

The big shame IMO is that Martinelli has not been given a run as a central striker. I think he'd scare the living daylights out of CBs.
I think back to when he first came on the scene for us - he was more central and would score from running with the ball and great headers or finishes getting on the end of crosses from good movement. At some point he was shifted left and whilst he has done well I feel he is well below the player he could have been if he had continued in a central position.

I don't see how you both do not understand what Gyokeres brings to the team that neither Alvarez or Havertz brings. Its well documented the importance of Gyokeres, in making space for others by occupying multiple defenders but also being in the 6 yard box - how many goals did he score that were traditional CF tap ins!!

Havertz is hardly ever in the box when you need him there and Alvarez isn't winning any tussles in a Premier League box. Its not a coincidence that we have a top defence a decent midfield and a proper CF and we won the league.

On the topic of Havertz and physicality, I remember him bullying that big Liverpool defender at the Emirates once, but I have never seen him bully anyone else, so no, I wouldn't call him physical, he falls over a lot. So does Gyokeres I hear you cry, yes, but Gyokeres also bullies a lot of players.

We see things different - because I think one of Gyokeres major issues is that he is NOT in the 6yard box often enough. He does put the effort in drifting out wide and running into space, but even when he is in the 6 yard box his anticipation is poor. He's basically a runner and I think he also has a good shot on him, much better than Kai in the shooting dept. But Kai is levels ahead of him in terms of finding and exploiting space intelligently and I think you will find he also scores a lot more tap ins than Gyokeres.

I think overall it's Kai's intelligence that sets him apart and if one of Gyokeres or Havertz were to leave, it would have to be Gyokeres.
There might be room in the squad for both if Jesus leaves, which I expect him to. That's where I think these ITKs are going wrong (intentionally). It gets more clicks if a new striker is supposedly replacing Gyokeres. Truth is it's more likely a Jesus replacement.

If we're spending big on anyone up top, I'd probably rather Kroupi than Alvarez. But either of those are slightly prefereble to Gyokeres.

I really think Brobbey would be a good buy. He's used to the PL and every time I have watched him he is not only a beast vs CBs but is able to hold the ball and play others in PLUS makes those runs to get on the end of crosses. I think he's a real talent.
