Sad news that Stranger Cole departed us the other day. :(
Mostly known for ska, but a career that spanned the genres.
Rest easy, your work is done.

- Reggae

Believed by many (including me) to be the very
first track as the genre is understood

There was a Cortina MK II 3.0 litre Essex V6 which produced 218 bhp and was as fast as an E-Type from 0-60.
Anyway, enough of this nonsense.
To keep this on (Ford Cortina) topic, somebody needs to post “Saturday’s Kids” by The Jam.
Stains on the seats, in the back of course.

Love Saturdays kids but this is equally (maybe more appropriate)

Sad news! <rose>
RIP Dave Greenslade (83), keyboardist of Colosseum and the eponymous Greenslade.
One of the pioneers in the use of the Hammond organ in rock music during the late '60's and then became one of the most creative, if less well known virtuoso players of the nascent Progressive era and through the '70's.
Never flashy, just a consummate professional musician and a thoroughly lovely man with a marvellous sense of self-deprecating humour who I was fortunate enough to have known.

Tonight, we're off on a pre-birthday treat...if the ****ing tickets turn up!!

Buying off Twickets is fine...until. every so often the tickets don't show up. Probabhly 20% of the time, I spend the 48 hours before pulling out what nature's left me by way of hair.

Fingers crossed, as I really fancy this one.

We used to turn up and pay on the door.
When we couldn't, it lost its appeal
Here's a band I've seen live

Ok...so that was really pretty bad.

The first 30 minutes or so were ****ing dreadful. He sang across the melody of very basic songs and he was really badly out of tune. WTF is that...?

The next 30 minutes, he ****ed off to the far side of the stage, massacred 'Good Year for The Roses' (sounded more like Goodyear Radial for The Council Tip'), overly complicated 'Alison' and lost its beauty and continued to sing across melodies, from time to time.

The final 30 minutes, he proved that the previous hour was a choice, rather than all he could muster (think the difference in Europe v Premier League, during Ange's final months). Which just makes the whole thing worse. He was choosing to make things worse!!

Mrs B was gonna flounce out before half time. If she'd stood up, I would have followed. She met a mate on the way out. His considered opinion...

"Well, that was ****!"

Regrettably, he wasn't wrong. A great afternoon/evening...spoiled.

Happy (early) Birthday!! <laugh>
At least the venue was lovely and the sun shone!! And you didn't have far to go! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Soooo, a few years back (3,4...who knows?), Mrs B and I attended the final UK performance on The B52s...which was somewhat underwhelming.

"Never again" said Brian. Never

So, here's some shots of Saturday night's B52s/Devo/Rezillos gig at the O2 in Charlton...

Never say never again...it was BRILLIANT.

Pick of the night (just) were Devo, but The B52s have gone full 'stadium experience' and it hides a few signs of the passing years, whilst not ruining their appeal.

I'm really thrilled for The Rezillos. Another band getting on big shows late on in their career, having seen them play to a few hundred people on several occasions, this must be a fabulous time for them.

Devo...? I take my red hat off to them. They were incredibly good, undimmed by the passing years and sharply political without being bluntly obvious.

So, having announced their Final Damnation, 50th anniversary, end of year tour schedule some weeks ago...plans were made,

Go to the Manchester gig on 30th November, train it down to Nottingham for the Derby gig on 2 December. Stay in Nottingham until the 5th, when we head up to Birmingham for the final night.

It's all good. No mention of Watford...not even a whisper of it...until it's announced that on the 4th December, there's another show...at Watford Colosseum..????

FFS!!!

Watford....?

Atrrrrrgggghhh!

Let’s hope they all live that long.
Heatstroke could be a problem at the moment
