Has South Western Railways been nationalised yet? Brand new train which is ankle deep in discarded rubbish, overflowing bins.
As someone who regularly travels on SWR and Thameslink I tend to find SWR are superior both for the trains themselves and having a chance of arriving at your destination vaguely on time.

I travel from Waterloo to Sherborne on SWT every 10 days to see my Mum, and this line (heads on to Exeter) is well below average. Trains frequently late (a lot of single track doesn't help) and the trains well past their best (excruciatingly slow WiFi, no power points....). Staff are always very friendly and helpful

That would be because I’m thinking of Southern rather than SWR.

Labour will enjoy a 'Burnham bounce' until voters realise it has to be paid for. No doubt he'll see Starmer off and then he'll be under the spotlight and find running the UK is a world away from a metropolitan mayoralty...

As already proved by Boris the Buffoon

They"re all twats, and the country is fractured and ****ed, it doesn't matter who is in charge

Don't you just love Fleet Street? For the last two weeks we've been told that Burnham may not then will not win the by-election. Now it seems that the golden boy, Farage is fighting for his political career against a tidal wave of nobodies to win even the right wing vote.

Would love to be proved wrong but I don't think Burnham is the answer. Just like Truss, then Sunak after the buffoon ran away when it all became too much of a problem for him to concentrate on the nation rather than his own lifestyle demands

A massive win for Burnham in Makerfield with 55% of the vote, which I think makes it impossible for Starmer to cling on. Hopefully, he'll be persuaded of this and will step down without being challenged. This could lead to a Burnham 'coronation', because I'm not sure Streeting would stand against him. The important thing for Labour is that Burnham has shown that Reform can be stopped. A terrible result for Farage.
