With Azaz, I don't think you can say his games under Still don't count but it's fair to point out that he didn't score or get an assist under Still so his scoring record while playing under Tonda is that much more impressive.

It's also not necessarily true that he plays in a role where he should be getting the second most goals. I'd say it's the wide attackers who should be doing that. If you look back at our most successful period from 2012 to 2016ish then our top scorers were strikers (Lambert, Pelle and Austin) and wide attackers (J-Rod, Mane and Redmond). The likes of Davis and Ramirez were a little way down the list. If anything it's Scienza and Matsuki/Fellows who aren't delivering as many goals as we need.

I don't see Azaz as a Premier League player and he definitely goes missing at times so there's no doubt we need another option to play in that position but in an ideal world we'd really be looking for more goals from wide areas.

I am wondering if we will look for an upgrade on Fellows.

I think he will have a better season come September but there are still huge W marks over him. I guess we also have Matsuki who can play as the CAM and on the right so wonder if they how they will approach this.

I think Dragan said we're specifically looking for someone to play the Azaz role so guessing they see Matsuki as more a wide option.

Being linked with an £8.5m move for Ethan Galbraith from Swansea. Remember him being in high demand last season by a number of Champ teams before signing for Swansea but no idea how he got on this season

He’s more a deeper midfielder than an Azaz type so would indicate one of those is likely off if he signs, can’t see us needing 5 first team centre mids.

Having read a bit more about him on a Swansea forum it sounds like he has an unknown release clause, believed to be around £8m and Swansea have offered him a new deal.

The fans on there think he’s worth £10m+ and think the club have ****ed up with the release clause being too low. It also sounds like he’s played RB a fair bit this season so maybe is being signed with that in mind as well as CM, I think Charles has played RB a bit as well so maybe a direct replacement.

But yeah they seem to be treating the rumour as having legs and not just the usual bullshit you get at this time of year

Yeah on Facebook (I know) the Swansea fans are kicking off and are saying “put a 1 in front of the 8” and saying 20m etc.

But that’s a better sign than fan reactions to people like Lyanco

He seems much smaller as a physical presence than Charles so may not be a like for like replacement.

Decent central midfielders could be in high demand by top end Championship clubs this summer. We will likely need to replace Charles (and maybe one other). Boro will likely need to replace Hackney (and Morris has admirers too). West Ham will likely need to replace Fernandes (and I don't know how willing Magassa will be to drop down to the Championship). Wolves will likely need to replace Joao Gomes. Burnley might be on the look out for someone if they don't sign JWP permanently (or if they quickly sell Luis or Lesley). It's an area where Wrexham badly need to strengthen. Birmingham and Derby I think have both lost a couple of loanees each in that area, who may not return next season.

Thoughts on this bloke @Chief ?

He sounds promising from what I’ve read. Started at Man Utd and didn’t get a chance, couple of loan spells, was released and went to Leyton Orient where he was one of their better players in a couple of good seasons for them (finished 11th in League 1 after promotion then got into the playoffs the second season).

Was then in demand by a few champ teams and went to Swansea where it sounds like he’s done well so if he does sign hopefully he continues the upward trajectory.

Interesting to see in the Echo, a couple of days ago, and reiterated on YouTube by Football Martin, a suggestion that we should be asking Everton to let us have Tyler Dibling for a season’s loan.
Not sure he or Everton would agree to that but he could be competition for Azaz, in the 10 position and also play wide. And, wages aside, he could be a cheaper option than buying someone.

They’d want him to be guaranteed to play ? Which I guess he might be in one of several attacking positions

Depends on their plans for him I guess. And their ambitions for the season

He's already played a full season in the Premier League for us so I struggle to see him wanting to come to the Championship. If he did go out on loan one of the promoted clubs or a Leeds/Forest type club feels more likely.

There was an article about Dibling on Radio 5 about 6 weeks ago which outlined they will be patient with him and that he is very much part of their future plans .

Personally I’ve no enthusiasm for him coming here on loan. I could be wrong but if Moyes hasn’t yet got a tune out of him then there’s a clue there somewhere about attitude and application. This is not a season for experiments.
When he first started playing for us I was impressed and excited to see some real talent then we had the management fairground season and I initially had sympathy for him as his contribution lessened. However, that patience began to wane as he seemed to switch off altogether and with his agent the move away saga just became a farce. But, credit to the Club, the money they got for him gave us some cracking players for last season!!
