Its ridiculous. Robbing Peter to pay Paul still. Quality prospect being flogged off to paper over cracks. I hope we use this Premier League money wisely and sign for the future.
The suggestion is that this is largely down to having to pay players large promotion bonuses as part of their contracts, including allegedly, a very large one to Omur (even though he contributed nothing to achieving it), which wouldn’t have been expected to be necessary at the beginning of last season.

Thats an excellent point. We are used to thinking about costs and values in the Championship. Step up a level and it doesn't feel like its even being measured on the same scale. Like my dad going on about £5 a pint in London.
Where did your Dad see that bargain? <cheers> <party>

HDM with a full list of free agents from the PL last season.
I’m sure there’s some names in there somewhere, but I got up to Palace & I recognised Nathaniel Clyne & James Milner, who’s retiring anyway & gave it up as a bad job!

One of the bigger free agents is likely to be Jadon Sancho, wouldnt do him any harm to join a team like us cut rate and get his profile back up. Not likely to happen but who knows.

No!

My mate is a Utd season ticket holder & says he’s a terrible type of player for any team, he had it all , then blew it because he can’t be arsed with the effort it would take, the exact opposite of a player like Kyle Joseph!

Absolutely not, we've got such a good dressing room dynamic, we don't need a personality like his in it
Seemed ok at Dortmund, then fell foul of Ten Hag, who came across as a control freak, only a young lad, wouldnt be quick to write him off, like many, probably needs the right coach.

Would they not be paid after 1st July and therefore into next years money? If they're in contracts then the EFL would have surely considered them when approving new signings as part of the embargo? Any bonuses in RL count on the live Salary Cap, I expect it is the same in Football.

We’ve no chance of getting 5 million.

8 goals and 5 assists for a 24 year old home grown striker who played primarily out wide, £5m is decent money.

Harewood-Bellis and Jack Rudoni are considered to be worth far more, both valued over £20m and yet contributed less across the season in terms of goal involvements.

That type of player is going to be worth a decent amount to any club that plays like we do with a strong press and counter attack.

Frankly, I think £5m is a bargain considering what the alternatives would cost. I'm not surprised there's a lot of interest in him.

Maybe, but if he’d been any good in his second spell at Dortmund when he went on loan or at Villa or Chelsea he’d already be linked with a bigger team than us, I just don’t see him having the mentality to fight for us, may as well keep Kamara, although neither compares to Joseph’s attitude IMO!

Maybe .... but there's a bloody good player there in Sancho if he is handled right, either way I doubt we could afford his wages anyway even at a cut rate, so its a futile convo really, just noticed he was a free agent.
