Good to hear that Illegal mini-marts, barbers and vape shops could be shut for up to a year under new powers announced by the government, following lengthy investigative reporting by BBC News into organised crime on British high streets.

Cant wait till they get in and kick these thieving Labour grifters into touch, like the 6 times before in history when Labour run out of taxpayers money they get kicked out and it takes the next government 3 to 4 years to get a grip on the state they left it in
Or because of the stupidity of lack of investment and austerity from the Tories the in coming labour governments has to spend money to put basic things right. The last Tory government borrowed and taxed more than any government in history, out of war time, so why let some facts get in the way of your nonsense.

Classic example is our country’s prisons and people had to be released because they were full. Money now has to be spent because the Tories didn’t invest.

Take your hate filled glasses off and you might see some investment in public services saves money in the long run.

Wait till your hero gets any power. He will cut cut cut and cut to keep his non dom billionaire backers happy and the next government coming in will have one hell of a mess to clean up, but like Brexit and the mess they are making of local government it will be everyone else’s fault but his own.

I've stopped myself from following personality politics in my older age. Previously being guilty of it in the past with Blair. My family and most of my friends (I believe) are Labour supporters, so probably become more loyal in my retired years.

From this background I see the threat from the far right far more than that from the far left. Happy to have the far left threats posted on here, but I don't see it as being anything significant like that I believe exists from Farage's racist far right. Sunderland Council has unbelievably swung from Labour to Reform just after our city looks to be starting to benefit from regeneration. I hope this is not jeopardised in the upcoming years.

My beliefs in the political system maybe tested in the coming week if Burnham takes Makerfield. I don't like him as he represents personality politics. If he doesn't win, Reform may start to build momentum in UK politics. A frightening prospect in my eyes.
Great post mate, my thoughts exactly

No argument there Vic. She was a vile wicked woman and what she did to vast parts of the NE should never be forgotten. However, people like Heseltine, Clarke, Major and May were decent people even if you may not agree with them politicaly.
Exactly, I always thought May tried her best. Remember, May resigned following the repeated rejection of her Brexit withdrawal agreement by Parliament. Johnson won the subsequent Conservative Party leadership election and had two letters written on his desk waiting for the result of the Brexit referendum. One saying how wonderful Brexit would be for the UK, the other how remaining was key to a successful UK future. He made it up as he went along. Liars are always caught out in the end.

Even though I no longer have an "ear to the ground" as it were.

Turkish gangs for decades in the UK have been heavily involved in drugs, people smuggling, prostitution etc. It was a factor that the EU had to consider if Turkey were ever to join the EU... easier access for their criminality.

So I was not surprised when Turkish Barbers, Vape shops were springing up everywhere... they are presumably, money laundering...not very secretly. What is surprising is very little action has been taken against them, up to now?.

I recently read a book on May. Whilst I would never agree with per politically she was a decent woman. The way Johnson stabbed her in the back was utterly disgraceful given she had given him an opportunity and sums him up.

Sad but hopefully true that the end is in sight for these gangs. Need to rid our high streets of Bargain Booze, Vape and Nail shops (sorry to any of our posters who get their nails done).

The Silence at the Old Bailey: Why is the Starmer Arson Trial Being Buried?

Counter Terrorism Policing London is leading the investigation, a designation that reflects the nature of the alleged target and not the charge. No terrorism offences have been brought. The Metropolitan Police have made no public attribution to any foreign state. The motive, officially, remains what one court document described as unexplained and opaque. The maximum sentence for the offence of arson with intent to endanger life is life imprisonment and yet no Jury

Heseltine is a Cnut and was a key member of that set of b******s who destroyed the North East and it’s communities and like you say i will NEVER forget, still remember the time my political hero Dennis Skinner, ripping him to pieces on Question Time, guess we’ll just have to disagree on that lot being decent people

Well there’s a house full of them in Westminster marra

Nobody does shop in them, but they still turn over 10's of thousands of pounds per week.
Blame the Tories. Previously you had to apply for a change of use for a commercial property. Tories scrapped that and we now have a Wild West of shops looking like a third world country in our town centres. Capitalism is King. Landlords are making money renting retail units who cares if it is just a front for selling duty free tabs, selling vapes to kids or is just a money laundering execise for foreign gangsters.
