It’s more to do with the performance obligation that’s assigned to the revenue. If 1/3 of said sponsorship is to do with the 28/29 season front of shirt sponsor until that “performance obligation” is satisfied you can’t recognise the revenue and it would be deferred until then if all received up front. Would assume it stays true to this as opposed to changing for the footballing industry.
Yeah, if you sold 3 years sponsorship and took the money up front - it could potentially help with immediate cashflow but wouldn't be counted for PSR in the current period, just equalised over the term.

And there would have to be an interest equivalence calculation at fair market value factored into the PSR submission also, as the proportion received early would be regarded as equivalent to a loan.

So technically you can forward-weight sponsorship - there wouldn't be an 'interest equivalence' stipulation in FFP otherwise, but it wouldn't be of any benefit to PSR, in fact the opposite would ultimately be true.

I assume multi-season ticket sales would be assessed in a similar way

Sorta makes sense when you think about it.

Celtic are apparently interested in Ivan Bašić. I’ll be watching him closely for Bosnia as I was told last summer he was a transfer target for City before the transfer fee restriction came into force.

Is that enough for the EPL though? I'd hope our sights were set higher than SPL prospects - that's not to say our links to the Bosnian/Croatian market won't be significant for us, just we're looking at signings with very different remit 12 months on.

Hmmn.
Doesn't seem like a good idea when we are suppossedly trying to sell him before the end of the month.
Hope he doesn't get injured.

Is it any different to players already getting back into pre-season work outs like Crooks? Could injure yourself doing any number of things and it looks like that's a pretty low intensity event.

I agree. I was hoping we’d rekindle our interest in Bašić this summer on the presumption that we’d still be a Championship club. When we were supposedly interested in him last summer, he had just become a free agent after leaving a Russian team. He ended up going to Astana in the Kazakh league on an 18-month contract. He’s way better than that level though. He did well for Bosnia in the World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Italy.

If Celtic are looking at him, I would imagine clubs in the Championship and maybe even the top five European leagues are also keeping an eye on him. He’s played under Jakirović before at Zrinjski Mostar.

Seems to be an open secret we're looking at the south American market too.

And given the reception Yu got, perhaps Japan or Korea?

Any suggestions on those fronts?

The first goal scorer for Japan this evening looked pretty good. Got 11 goals last season in the French premier league in a relegated side and stayed with them this year and got another double figure return. Would think as they didn’t go back up he could be available on a decent deal.

Keito Nakamura 14 in 29 this season from the left wing in French 2nd tier, 11 in 31 last season in the first tier. 25 years old - set up the winner against England when Japan beat us 1-0 in March

Yeah, was wondering about him, having remembered him from that friendly. Just assumed he was already effectively taken at a higher level than Ligue Deux

They must be reasonable well stacked for wingers if they can afford to leave Hirakawa out.

Plus Mitoma of Brighton also left out.
