Isn’t he similar in style to McBurnie? I know we want two in he very position, but not sure about spunking loads of money/wages.
Does show how important it is to go up not being dependant on loan signings, that's a big old chunk for a keeper and one of last years' best players for them, sellers market tho. We're in that similar position with Gelhardt, Leeds could go silly season, but we're fortunate enough to be able to walk away if needed.Coventry bid £20m for Rushworth…madness.
Absolutely this. Last season was odd because 2 of the promoted teams did well and only one established club blew up. Really unusual for 39 points not to keep you safe. Leeds had a mostly PL team still kept together and Sunderland had been planning for this for years, ever since Kyril L-D took over, I don't think he gets enough credit for their success - playing kids, keeping finance tight, not investing in promotion per se, but keeping powder dry until promotion. I don't see either of those qualities in any of the promoted teams so my best guess is normal service will resume - season just gone is the odd one outI doubt anything will change next season in the Premier League. There will be the usual suspects fighting it out for glory and European football. The mid table sides will all be dangerous but will sit comfortably hoping to have a good cup run whilst the rest will always be looking over their shoulders. The relegation battle usually involves 2 promoted clubs and one surprise package.
I don’t see it being any different next season.
UTT.
Structure the contract to share the risk - much greater emphasis on playing time than basic. If they don't like it then they don't sign. I'd also be putting an emphasis on a safety bonus too. Players who are just coming to retire and pick up easy money wouldn't be interested.ross stewart

we def need at least 1 new cbDepending on if he has a decent World Cup, I wouldn’t mind us going for Josip Šutalo at Ajax. Our centre-backs are decent but I still think we need one that’s a level above what we currently have. Šutalo was valued at €30 million last summer but Ajax are willing to accept €15 million this summer, apparently. He’s a had a rough season but Ajax have been ****e overall. Would be a solid centre-back for a newly-promoted Premier League side.
Clough was such a complex character. Some bits were tremendous and others like this, really not pleasant at all.Yeah, you are right. It isn't made up.

- The Truth of the Story: The conversation itself is not made up. Justin Fashanu signed for Nottingham Forest in 1981 from Norwich City. He was a deeply religious, born-again Christian, which prompted the initial "I've had a word with God" comment to Brian Clough. [1, 2]
- The Darker Context: While the exchange is often repeated as a lighthearted comedy routine, the real-life relationship between Clough and Justin Fashanu was incredibly strained. Clough heavily targeted Justin with homophobic abuse and actively pushed him out of the club. Justin Fashanu was eventually loaned out to Southampton and later sold to Notts County, rather than returning to Norwich.
Homophobic, a drunk at the end, huge ego, obnoxious, but at the same time sent his Derby team on to the picket lines to show solidarity and many he came into contact with spoke of him highly... Always hard to view looking back through the prism of progress.Clough was such a complex character. Some bits were tremendous and others like this, really not pleasant at all.

Would you mind awfully ..................................I think I'd prefer Sergeant Wilson from Dad's Army.
Flemming is good but I can see him going for £25-30 million. That’s just what the market is like now. Someone like Toni Fruk, who is a very similar profile to Flemming, will likely cost around £10 million. Given Acun’s statements, I can see us going for someone like Fruk over the likes of Flemming.I’d be signing Zian Flemming at Burnley. Scored goals in the PL for a poor Burnley side. Better age, can play a couple of different positions. More robust than other options linked.
