Has this incident sullied THB's perfect record of going up at first time of asking each time he's played for a Championship team?

That'll be the Roy Keane who in his early 20s was punched in the chest by a manager btw.

I'm not sure what other clubs fans anger has to do with anything?

Boro briefed the national media in the weeks leading up to the independent panel, whilst Saints sat quietly. This is the first time we're hearing from important figures in the club that's not just a scheduled social media post. The EFL were harsh to Saints regardless, so I'm not sure releasing/doing a couple of interviews will change the FA's mind either way (if they are going the harshest route possible regardless).
I think it seemed harsh at first. However if we were able to play the final and there was absolutely no certainty we would win against Hull. In fact I thought Hull contained Middlesbrough much better than we did. So if we lost we would have only -4 points deduction that we have anyway. It is arrogance to suggest that we were hard done by because we would have automatically beaten Hull

I don’t agree. We needed to control the narrative and set out what we will and won’t accept.

However antagonised the FA may or may not be form this, they now know that our position is in the public domain, that we have already been harshly treated and they can expect a massive backlash from Saints if they add to the punishment significantly.

Action against Tonda is now clearly further action against the club. That was previously unclear.
Do they care? We aren’t a big fish

We were hard done by because we never got the chance to play Hull at Wembley, not because we would have beaten them if we had.

Dragan Solak speaking to Adam Blackmore today:

We are not in the Premier League, where we hoped to be. But we still have done absolutely great work this season to show that we are ready to play top level football. I hope that we can pick up from there and continue this next season.

When I think about everything, I'll use a very simple parallel: I think about my family. I love Southampton and as long as I am at the helm, I consider Southampton to be my family.

If your family, your son or daughter, they do something wrong, I would never try to help them to get away with it. But if they are willing to accept that they did do something wrong, if they paid their price, then what else can you do? It's still your family and you're not going to disregard that you have a son or a daughter because they made a mistake and did something really wrong in their life.

We accept that we did wrong.

We will learn from this, we will make sure that we never, ever again repeat that. But after that, we accept it and we move on. Obviously now, I am going to do everything I possibly can to repair and make the damage less and to try to even build on this so that we emerge as a better, stronger and more respectful club.
