After the season we've just had with injuries, putting our eggs into one or two baskets would seem like a potentially expensive gamble.

The other issue is that players actually worth £30m who would make the difference probably wouldn't come near us.
Memories of Ryan Mason and Jimmy Bullard, big signings and big injuries.

Must be a decent chance we'll get a new record signing though.

there is absolutely no way we get vlahovic
not even wages
but other clubs will be in there
When they're on free's the wages become palatable dont they. Lets say he was on 150k a week. He's only 26. 3 year contract costs you 22.5 million. If you wanted to sign him, what would you have to pay, and what would his wages be on top..?

Aaaah just seen from m88 he was on 350k a week..... derrrrrrr..

He's leaving juve because he wants a higher wage..

Anyway, I'm sure Sergei has a handle on a very good 'Ovic' ...

Nothing to suggest, other than Craig Bellamy saying exactly that.
Craig Bellamy said he thinks Koumas is more suited as a striker than a winger (which is what I said months ago), as far as I’m aware, not that Koumas himself thinks his preferred position is striker. Koumas came here as a winger and was mostly played on the wing, where he was crap.

Yeah, Bellamy’s obviously realised that he’s not much of a winger but as a striker, he’s got lots of pace and is a good finisher, which is exactly why I would think he’d be worth having around to throw on at the end of a game if we’re under the kosh and struggling to grab a goal. At the right price of course.

Re Koumas, for me he's a long way off being the quality to worry any premier league defender. If we had to spend money on him there are surely better options.
Different opinions, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what those making the decisions think. They may well decide against, if the deal isn’t right anyway.

He looked way off it in the Championship. Scored a few goals, yes, but the kid can’t dribble properly. He’s quick and an okay finisher but his dribbling, crossing, first touch and general decision-making isn’t even Championship level, let alone Premier League level. I can’t believe people want us to waste a loan spot or even sign him permanently. It’s like winning £200 million in the lottery and buying a Vauxhall Corsa.

Personally think (and only my opinion), we'll buy lots of 21/22 year olds for £10m-£15m and Acun will look at selling us (or big share) at some point this season, showing the squad value and decent sponsor income etc.
I agree M88, expect Acun to fatten the ox up a bit then sell some or all of his stake. If so he goes with his reputation now intact and certainly with my thanks. Personally I'd prefer him to bring in some more investment and stay as I think he could be a great figurehead for us in the sea of PL leadership dross.
