course Chelsea have. For a big club they sure have a weird approach to transfers, just sit and wait for Newcastle to make a move.

Sounds like Newcastle aren't even bidding while Brighton go all in... The old Newcastle like the player, but don't want to bid stories circulating.

Howe probably has to say yes or something before we can bid.

The player doesn't strike me as a player profile Howe would want... I will wait for the ultimate outcome, but I suspect Brighton will act and Newcastle won't.

dunno about that. He’s fast and runs in straight lines. Seems exactly what Howe would want, and is frighteningly similar to what we’ve had

Tbf there is roo much negativity these days... Some of us just can't stop
...

Lets hope for a good summer

Unfortunately, yes, the club has a lot of work to do before I personally feel I can just relax about it. As of today, Barca have signed our best forward, Man U have added in central midfield, so once again I see activity happening but the Toon are, on the face of it, doing nothing, there's neither info nor urgency on everything. When the most likely news story is the reveal of what is probably the worst kit in our history, it just all feels off. How's the training ground, did ye say? How's the stadium, did ye say? Howe's the manager, did ye say? Just......nothing.

The issue with this topic of transfers, again from my personal view, is I heard all the bollocks last year from Howe about moving fast and needing to add quality, then we end the Summer panicking and over-paying for what turned out to be utter dross. In one week the W/C starts and Newcastle won't have added a first team player. Then, as ACS has said, Murphy is staying which is yet another example of keeping a player long after they have any value, the lad's been utter crap the entire season, how's he suddenly going to be better? Or are we expecting Elanga to magically learn how to play football? His last Intl friendly was yet another disaster-class when he was hooked at half time. Too much dross throughout the squad and neither the money, direction or even inclination to replace many of them.

In spite of a shocking defensive record, we go into next season almost certainly with the same four CB's and not one of us would be surprised if either Burn or Schar start. Both our full backs are interesting other teams, as is Tonali - oh, but don't worry, all, Howe's making him part of the 'leadership group', something I'm sure is what he's after from a club! I will take a bit of a break from the forum tbf and just watch the W/C but it remains that the club has an awful lot, probably too much, to do and will fall short again.

I choose to look at this window positively.
1 - We have sold Gordon to Barcelona for a good price. This means we get money in the coffers to spend, and also indicates to potential incomings that we are able to develop players to the standards of the top clubs in the world.
If we can offer more cash to these potential incomings than Brighton, Bournemouth etc (SCR should allow this based on current commercial revenues), we can position ourselves as the Borussia Dortmund of the PL. If we get this status, then we can look to build our squad, standing and commercial revenues through trading. Eventually, this should lead to us becoming a destination club in our own right. (I would not be surprised if Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool reform the "top 4" with Us, Villa, Spurs and Chelsea becoming the 2nd tier in the PL long term)

2 - We have been linked with more up and coming break out players than "Prem Proven" players. There has barely been a mention of Solanke, Delap, Kilman etc. (I know McTominay keeps appearing on here but this is a rather weird place. (I wouldn't have it any other way!). Young Players I have seen linked so far:
GK - Ewen Jaouen (20), Stade Reims
GK - Robin Risser (21), RC Lens
RB - Marco Palestra (21), Atalanta BC
LB - Jorge Salinas (19), Racing Santander
CB - Viery (21), Gremio
DM - Lamine Camara (22), AS Monaco
CM - Niccolò Pisilli (21), AS Roma
RW - Zadok Johanna (18), AIK - Bid reportedly placed
LW - Victor Munoz (22), CA Osasuna - Bid reportedly placed
LW - Abde Ezzalzouli (24), Real Betis
LW - Bazoumana Touré (20), Hoffenheim
LW - Mika Gotds (20), Ajax
LW - Antonio Nusa (21), RB Leipzig
CF - Mattias Fernandez-Pardo (21), LOSC Lille
CF - Mikkel Bro Hansen (17), Bodø/Glimt

Now of course these will not all come to us and some will be us asking a question of the other club, getting an answer we can't work with and moving on. Some will be made up entirely I expect. However, given the sheer volume of young breakout players that I've listed above, does this not indicate that we are shopping in the market that so many on here want us to? Young players that we can improve upon, likely not competing with elite clubs or looking at massive fees. This, to me, speaks of a different approach to last summer and judging on how that went, the change of approach is a good thing.

3 - Cordero, Seung-Soo, Pivas, Salia, Neave, Shahar are all to be looked at over pre-season with a view to promotion into the 1st team (Not sure on Finneran and Ferreira)

4 - We now have semi-regular communications from the CEO to the fans. I do not feel we are in the dark any more. (less transfer related but adds to a general air of positivity)
