The person I would most like to sit down with and discuss this situation with is Will Salt.
I really want to know if he felt pressured into spying and if he deliberately allowed himself to be seen, observed and photographed as a protest against it.
If the answer to both of those questions is “Yes” then my next question would be “Did you consider the impact your being seen would have on the club and fans?”
I would expect and hope that his response to that would be along the lines that we would be sanctioned but not so harshly.

My own thoughts are that you don’t stand out in the open, as he did, unless you wanted to be seen and if that is the case, irrespective of any pressure put on him to carry out the spying, he should have refused and should be moved on.

Just thinking.

Surely some enterprising individual or two who aren't affiliated with a club, will look at this, go and take recordings of training sessions before big games, then put in a little call to whichever club and say "I have a recording of x club who you're playing and their in-game tactics. Yours for £1,000".

I mean, that's what I'd probably do if I was of that mind.

If any club did pay a third party for information on an opponent, which had been collected within 72 hours of a match (so clearly breaking the current rules), it may give them an advantage, but it would also open up an easy blackmail option, as the third party would then have provable evidence of a club obtaining illicit information, and the third party would probably (certainly) want more than £1,000 for keeping quiet.
Still, it's worth a go. I've got a super-8 cine camera, and a reel-to-reel tape recorder, so all I need now is a list of training ground addresses

I think it's more likely that an enterprising fan "accidentally walking past" a training area that was visible to the public like, I don't know, Middlesbrough, might snap some footage and shove it up on an internet forum.

I would love it if a rich Saints fan just dedicated this season to watching Boro train and put it all out there on social media etc. if I had an obscene amount of money and didn't need to work, I think I would seriously enjoy that!

Nothing to do with our club! **** you Gibson, **** you EFL!

If only there was a retired Saints fan who lived in/near Middlesbrough. Somewhere like Stockton, maybe.
