There is an ex football agent on Twitter who seems to think we’re close to signing Szmodics for 8M but he did then refer to us as the Lions…

Also thinks Chelsea want 40M for Delap and we’re one of three teams interested. Both nonsense but I can’t find anything else!
Chelsea will be lucky to get £4m for Liam Delap.

I still think he’s a good player but Delap still has a lot of the flaws he had when he was with us. For example, he uses strength and pace well to dribble past players but he often tries to take on one too many and lose the ball. He’d glide past one player, then another, you’d be in awe and then he’d try taking on a third player and lose the ball instead of releasing the ball to someone in space (space he opened up with his powerful running).

Rosenior at City, McKenna, Maresca and Rosenior again have not managed to coach this out of him yet to make him a more intelligent and effective striker. He needs to learn quickly when to pass in the final third instead of chasing moments for his YouTube compilations.
Yep if he’d kicked on he’d be in the WC squad

Was Sheff Utd's top scorer last time he was there..

He has the most PL experience in our squad.

I definitely think he could lead the line for us next season, we just need to get better service to him. He's done an unbelievable job considering how little service he got in the second half of the season.

It always baffled me why we had 2 wingers on either side that like to cut inside and shoot rather than cross. Surely when you have a player like McBurnie who thrives on balls in the box we'd have swapped the wingers over from time to time.

Maybe if we upgrade the fullbacks we can have those bombing on past the wingers and getting crosses in the box for McBurnie to put away.

Usually I'd think £15m for a 29 year old would be decent money - but McBurnie doesn't rely on pace (in fact its probably the weakest element of his game).

I think his value to the squad (in terms of goals, defensive work and spirit) means he's probably not worth the profit. It'd take a lot to replace that right now and as he ages if we are lucky enough to still be in the PL we'll probably move on from him fairly naturally.

I do think the league becoming more physical thanks to Arsenal and Brentford does make it better for the play off winner to stay up. We're already set up to be combative and cope with having less of the ball, taking our chances on the counter and from set pieces (although we need to get better in that respect). Games are being decided more on moments than skilful players tearing the game apart.

Yeh a lot of people assuming we will be the team that struggles the most from the promoted sides, but I would argue we may have a better chance. We know what we are and we will play to our strengths and our results against the better teams in the Championship highlight this. If Coventry try to 'play football' then they will get torn apart.
