Reading's owners were brilliant for them until they weren't. As were Wednesday's. As were Derby's. Everyone's owners are great until they aren't.
This is always true.

For me, all clubs should have at least one supporter on the board, even in a non executive role.
I really do like the sporting club style of ownership. But it’s probably gone beyond that now for most clubs.

I do however feel that there is a major difference between Acun and just about any other owner we have had. He has far more personal reach than anyone who I can think of in football and that could produce a very sustainable model.

Globalisation is one thing but popularity in an existing strong football marketplace like Turkey should drive us forward into a different investment level.

I do feel that we are the right club in the right place at the right time, with the right ownership.

I'm not sure sustainability is the word I'd use with acun but it seems to be working so far.

3 and a half hours and counting...!

I'm sure you'll get there in the end though :emoticon-0100-smile

"About" - plenty have been reporting it'll be Iraola since before I even made that post. If you're timing it until the official announcement by Liverpool then who knows when that'll be, but Liverpool are not in some state of disarray scrambling for a manager.

Hull City has become incredibly well-known and surprisingly popular in Türkiye. It is often affectionately referred to by the Turkish media and local football fans as "The Turkish Team" in England.
This unexpected connection is almost entirely due to one man: Acun Ilıcalı.
The Acun Ilıcalı Effect
In January 2022, the Turkish media mogul and entrepreneur Acun Ilıcalı purchased Hull City. Ilıcalı is an absolute household name in Türkiye—frequently described as the "Turkish Simon Cowell"—who produces massive reality hits like Survivor and The Voice Türkiye (O Ses Türkiye).
The moment he announced his impending takeover live on Turkish prime-time television, Hull City’s social media footprint exploded, gaining tens of thousands of Turkish followers in mere minutes.
Why They Are Broadly Known Today
Mainstream Media Coverage: Because of Ilıcalı's massive media empire and celebrity status, Hull City’s matches, transfer window movements, and overall progress are routinely covered by mainstream Turkish sports networks as if they were a local Süper Lig side.
The Corendon Airlines Partnership: The club partnered with the Turkish-based Corendon Airlines, which has frequently operated special flight operations to fly Turkish fans over to England for major matches, and vice versa for Hull fans holidaying in Türkiye.
The "Tiger" Connection: In a quirky twist of marketing and cultural crossover, Hull City's traditional "Tigers" nickname and amber-and-black colors resonated heavily back in Türkiye, where fans frequently wave Turkish flags alongside Hull banners.
Recent Success: Their profile has arguably never been higher than right now. Following their dramatic promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship Playoff Final at Wembley, the club has been a massive talking point across Turkish sports media.
While the fierce, primary loyalties of most Turkish football fans still belong to the traditional "Big Three" of Istanbul (Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş), Hull City has firmly established itself as a definitive "second favorite" club for millions of people across the country.

Not sure this is a priority, he’s still got 2 years + and option left. He also must not be on 50k+ if we’re doing this
Don’t really understand this, ok he deserves it, but he will be on a sizeable contract anyway, with promotion bonuses and 2 seasons left. What will Slater etc feel about this, means nearly everyone we keep needs a new contract?
