They keep banging on about Local Hero being a Geordie tune too. Written by a bloke born in Scotland for a film about an American who visits Scotland <doh>
And they go onto the pitch with 'Hey Jude' written by a Scouser, Paul Lemon I think his name was ...

... whereas Sunderland come out to 'Wise Men Say' written by local lad Elvis Presley, a little known pub act from Hetton-le-Hole.

Claim to fame: I stood next to Paul Lemon's dad in the Roker End once while his lad was playing.

Ridiculous, isn't it? There's plenty of bands and singers from Newcastle that the could use. How about "Don't let me be misunderstood" by the Animals? Or something by AC/DC as Brian Johnson is a Geordie? Or Lindesfarne?

You know what, all the grief, gloating, rubbing it in with us finishing above them, beating them twice and getting into Europe that mags have been subject to, all could've been avoided if they had just kept their thoughts to themselves at the start of the season. Ah well.
Yep. But so many really believe this stuff. Many really believe that they are on the brink of signing Kvara , Bellingham and Kane.

It must be awful to live in such a fog, it never lifts for them.

Well they do say that the fog on the Tyne is all theirs apparently. They can keep it as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather have the sun on the Wear.
