I honestly think we’ve gone up at the perfect time.

The new financial rules are only going to make the gap between parachute payment clubs and the rest of the Championship even bigger. It already feels hard enough to compete with teams coming down from the Premier League, but now that advantage is just going to keep growing year after year.

That’s why this promotion feels absolutely massive for the club long term, not just for one season.

Obviously everyone wants us to stay up, but even if we came straight back down, we’d still be coming back into the Championship in a completely different position financially compared to most of the league. That’s why getting promoted now feels so important. It’s not just about having one year in the Premier League, it’s about changing the club’s trajectory if it’s managed properly.

I think people underestimate how good a signing Xhaka was. He’d won the league the previous year in Germany and played 49 times. Played 50 games the season before, and was only early 30’s at the time. He’s Switzerlands best player and become a real leader in the latter stages of his career. Other big names like Kovacic aren’t very comparable in my opinion, despite them having an unbelievable career. He’s similar age but played 8 games for Man City last season. Could be injuries or just not match fit, but when he plays, his legs look shot.

Çalhanoğlu signing for us would be comparable to Xhaka signing for Sunderland.

Not sure now who they would go for it could be anyone they surprise us with, but i would like to see Joseph,Koumas,Gelhardt and Yu stay it's players that can learn and bring through no point buying loads young players when we have some that have played here and we know can mix it.

Christian the footballer and Leonhart the botanist, are two of the Fuchs I don't give. As ever, I'm responsible for my posts but not responsible for how others interpret them.
Abridged version, feck 'em. :emoticon-0138-think

It's our time.
Sorry?

Fuchs retired
No chance we sign him

Replacing a Croatian keeper who has crap distribution with another Croatian keeper with crap distribution…

Keeper is a tricky one. Sunderland had Patterson and still went out and got Roefs. Patterson isn’t terrible either but he has his limitations like Pandur. Pandur is still a good shot-stopper so a new keeper needs to be as good as Pandur in that regard whilst also having better distribution. I’ve seen we’ve been linked on X with Ederson. That would obviously be a huge signing but I can’t see it myself.

Ederson is no chance

Fener pay enormous wages

Kante would be a great signing
But hes on a fortune there

Livakovic is kinda tongue in cheek becasue hes ahead of pandur at croatia
Imagine the same at city

Again, I think if we were to sign a Fenerbahçe midfielder, it would be Yüksek.

I’ve never seen Patterson have a game when he doesn’t blob at least once. He must be allergic to Hull City.

Hes probably the most realistic 'top' turkish signing

Other than calhanoglu

Financially we can almost certainly make calhanoglu work
But itd depend on him

Does he want to leave italy?
Does he want to play in his native turkey
Etc etc

Read a story a few weeks back saying Mahrez was wanting back to Europe.

Likely destination was Fenerbahce who are basically one of our feeder teams now.

Throw in the fact he's Algerian and we're the nations new favourite team.

It's got done deal written all over it.
