My instinct on Mayenda is retain and placate with enough minutes if that is at all possible, I feel like he could still develop into a very good player and I'd rather that be with us. A loan isn't the worst but if the player does well elsewhere, considering the tone of the article you'd assume he'd clamour to make that permanent. If he goes, what sort of fee could we even demand considering his limited minutes at this level?
I think the profile of the 9 we like has changed and he simply doesn't fit the role anymore. I also think he's at his best as a second striker or a RW which we don't really see him as the best option for that. I reckon he will move on, it's a shame as he's a hero and a great guy and talent but sometimes the fit changes when the play style does. I reckon we could get 15-20m for him

It's a tough one re: Mayenda. Think it's important to do what's right for him, as well as the club, about a possible permanent move.

Sunderland AFC are understood to be ‘stepping up’ their discussions with Marseille midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Sunderland are looking to sign an experienced midfielder with European experience. Geoffrey Kondogbia, 33, fits the bill perfectly with over 50 European appearances to his name, including 35 in the Champions League. The two parties are understood to be close to reaching an agreement.

I'm not convinced this is the best idea, but I suppose if we want someone experienced to give Xhaka a break from time to time then maybe. Just think he's declining in ability by the sounds of it

Honestly, if he's protected and used purely to manage Xhaka's minutes then I quite like it. Bring him on at 70 minutes each game with the occasional 90 to rest Xhaka. If the club don't think they can get a great deputy in then he's a good stop-gap. He is currently out with a dead leg though. If its similar to Ekwah's dead leg then that might be a career ender

Yeah stop gap is how I’d describe it

Leeds fans in TikTok saying we are in financial trouble and the fpp stuff will hit us hard in the summer and we will struggle
****ty little club with only a few years of winning things, best team in England and probably Europe at the time but they still couldn't beat the lads

As I replied on twitter think he would give us depth in defensive midfield and experience off the bench we didn't have this season, how many games realistically would we expect to start over Xhaka anyways? 10 tops?

Also I get it would be great to get an understudy who will eventually replace Xhaka but again, would they be happy with the minutes they would get when Xhaka plays almost every minute and also would they develop if they arent playing

its a make sense signing to me, adds valuable experience for a couple of seasons.
