I've mentioned Dean Windass before. I also thought Wayne Brown was fantastic for us in 2007-2008. Both hardly featured in 2008-2009.
We need to bring in players to replace players in practically every position and then we can see who steps up.
In the promotion season - Wayne Brown looked a class centre half, good positioning, an organiser and looked a level above. The Premier League exposed his lack of pace and he couldn't step up to Prem League level. I remember a home game against Wigan and we got battered 0-5, Heskey had a very good game.

Obviously our experience with Sinik, Pelkas and Omur makes us wary. However, if we are now fishing in the Turkey national team pond then hopefully that'll be different
Sinik and Omur were Turkish internationals, Pelkas a Greek international for many years. Being an international doesn’t necessarily ready a player for the English game.

Belloumi’s physicality worries me, he already gets bullied enough in the championship but maybe he’ll get more protection in the prem

Ulker is chucking a few quid in; there's an understanding that the amount of spending needed to build a squad for this league is higher than Acun can manage alone. He'll get some backing.

I know Brady and OLM have both said it, but just to be clear, Bowen has been wanted by Liverpool since last Summer. He opted to stay in the last two transfer windows to help repay West Ham, but Liverpool see him as the successor to Salah. Forget him coming back, I'm 99% sure he'll be a Liverpool player come the end of the transfer window.

You'll absolutely see some Turkish national team players arrive, good ones. You'll also no doubt see us sign players from Croatia and Bosnia. Zambrano and Borys will be coming but will be loaned back to Maribor to start with, I'd have thought.

How can he chuck money in? Through sponsorship?
