When people say he's not the best. How do you quantify, or explain who is the best, and what qualities do they have that make them the best?
90% of a footballer's job is done during the week. Those couple of hours on a Saturday that we see is only a fraction of their lives. People like Luke O'Nien and (by all reports) Simon Moore will be key parts outside of those times even if they aren't playing - training all week at the AOL, presence in the dressing room before/after games, helping the younger lads who may be away from their families/friends in a foreign country. We don't see any of that. A lot of people base their opinions of a player on what they see/don't see on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon. Nothing wrong with that, but think there has to be a wider appreciation that there is more to a footballer's worth that how many goals he scores, or clean sheets he keeps. The fact that Luke O'Nien has been absolutely loved by every manager at this club since Jack Ross tells it's own tale. You can see how much respect he commands from the players and we all know the character he is.It's no coincidence that his fellow professional team mates all speak highly about Luke.
Every manager he's played under are the same so he must be doing something right.
He just exudes positivity, he's been our star buy in the last ten years imo.
100%.Thing with 09 if we had bought him last summer for a million and he was lucio senior everyone woukd be raving about his passing, and his occasional South America head loss.
The lads worked his knackers of to raise his game and is clearly rated by every coach he has played under.
Hes the perfect example to young players that talent only gets you so far, but talent, dedication and hard work elevate you to much much higher levels
