Yes it is. The fact the game they cheated to get to is worth that is not relevant at all. If you break the rules then the punishment is banishment as with Swindon previously this year. Just because a lot of money is at stake doesn't come into the consideration. They admitted a breach of the rules so it isn't a shock the punishment is as is said on the tin. The precident for re-instating the losing team was also set when Luton were put back in having lost. If Hull lose the final then they may have a case for claiming they should have been awarded the competition having not cheated nor lost a game. That though is an argument when the outcome is known.

Well, if £200m is the benefit of being promoted to the Premier League, then yes it is. Well, not a crime but the value of breaking the rules.

Since they'd been caught red-handed, the authorities had no choice but to act.

Southampton pointed to a £200,000 fine issued to Leeds United in 2019 for spying on Derby as evidence of precedent.

However, when the Elland Road club were punished seven years ago, regulation 127 - which expressly forbids observing an opponent within 72 hours of a game - did not exist. It was introduced as a result of Leeds' wrong-doing.

"Southampton has been denied the opportunity to compete in a game worth more than £200m and one which means so much to our staff, players and supporters," Parsons added.

I think they've condemned themselves there. If it means so much to fans etc, don't do it. But it does mean that much monetarily and that's why they did do it.

Reading around it is suggesting that Edwards had received a "similar" offer than before.....and because Edwards was happy to stay he was going to accept it.

But talk is that he might of been approached from Div One or Two clubs with maybe better offers......this is probably why he as yet not signed a new contract.

One other reason that wages might be effected is the Governments increase in National Insurance contributions which is estimated to be costing PAFC an extra £100,000 per year.

Plymouth Argyle's discussions to keep captain Joe Edwards at Home Park for another year appear to have hit a stumbling block.

A new deal has been offered for the skipper...but journalist Pete O'Rouke has reported that the Pilgrims are struggling to agree a new deal with captain Joe Edwards with his current deal expiring next month....He added that a number of League One and League Two clubs are interested in the defender and are keeping tabs on his situation.

I have neighbours who are Southampton fans……. Oh dear.

And while I’m at it, oh dear.

Woman jailed for benefit fraud after claiming she could not walk after 10k race

I suppose you’ll be alright with that one Plym as at least she’s not hiding behind flimsy excuses like religious, political or racial threats to life in a foreign country. Personally, I wish I was fit enough to run 10K…..

She deserves all she gets....and there are many more like her out there.

But the problem these days are the second and third generation skivers'...who haven't ever taken onboard that you are supposed to work for a living......they think....why should I work my parents milked the system why can't I.

PS.......Nice to be able to get on here today without all the problems that have been happening this week......although something isn't right.....being flooded with adverts (although I had taken measures to stop that).......and having to drag the page fully on the monitor because it's two thirds off the screen to start with.

Journalist Pete O'Rouke is now saying that PAFC have agreed a new contract with Joe Edwards....no mention yet of the terms agreed.

Torquay United have signed former Argyle goalkeeper Zak Baker.

The 21 year old was released by the League One side earlier this month having failed to make a first team appearance.

Tuchel announces England squad for World Cup........it should get through the group stages....but personally it doesn't look that strong.....so spending a small fortune to go to the States to watch them doesn't sound a good idea.

Div One play-off Final.

Bolton...4-1...Stockport.

Congratulations to Bolton.

We lost both our games against them.....2-0 away and 2-1 at home...in the league.

Which would leave us with no keepers at all. Not a ringing endorsement of previous recruitment in that department is it?

Puma home kit announced....green v-necked shirt with white trim.....and a thin white vertical stripe.....sponsored by Classic Builders.

Conor Hazard hasn’t let us or himself
down. However, he doesn’t have that aura of confidence about him that Michael Cooper had.

I don’t know what it is but when Cooper came out for the kick-off you could just see he didn’t have a doubt in his body. Do you remember those Ready Brek Central Heating For Kids adverts…. That’s Michael Cooper that was.
