Toast mentions the younger players, this puts me in mind of the 2008 and 2009 PL years when we had some promising players - the likes of Will Atkinson, Marc Cullen and Liam Cooper - whose progress was blocked and in two of those three cases their subsequent careers might have been hampered a bit. Hope we don’t see that again with Ashbee, Moore and Shehu et al, but it’s probably inevitable.

Re. the Allams.

There was an (imo an overly negative) Athletic article back last summer about our finances. OLM (for obvious reasons) can surely add more.

No mention about money dependant on going up, but this was said ....

'There is also money owed to a very recognisable face. Hull’s debt to the Allam family extends a relationship most considered to be over when Ilicali bought the club from its former owners in January 2022. As part of that deal, however, Allam is owed money if add-ons from players sold under his ownership were realised.

That included England winger Jarrod Bowen, who left Hull to join West Ham United two years before Ilicali arrived in English football. A number of add-ons, including goals scored and international caps, have seen West Ham’s commitment rise by £3m, but very little of the money has been passed to Ehab Allam, the former chairman and son of the late Assem.'.

Hopefully that is the extent of it.

Taking away loyalty and great guy, who would you objectively move on because you feel there are better options out there that will be costly but not silly money.
You'd think anyone with a year left might be allowed to go.

Dowell
Joseph
Burstow obviously
Drameh
Phillips
Jacob
Destan
Palmer
Kamara
Vaughan
Omur (has he already gone)

I would hope that we try to secure them good L1 or Championship loans. There's an allure that comes with getting a PL player on loan even if they are a youth player, so in some ways the status of our kids gets elevated a bit and may get them a look in where they previously wouldn't have been considered. McCarthy for instance should be looking at a Championship loan for sure.

Yeah I alluded to that elsewhere too as another form of add ons to help get the deal done up front. Of course if even Baz confirming it as true wouldn't be enough for some people there's not much point.

Famewo, Coyle (even though that isn't gonna happen), Ajayi, Dowell, Omur, Akintola, Jacob, Burstow, Palmer, Phillips, Omur and Kamara to start with.

Destan I'd keep as he's still young enough to improve, Slater I think can step up along with Belloumi, Giles, Hughes, McBurnie and Crooks (though he'll have to play deeper). I think Millar would be alright as cover in the PL, but with a year to go on his contract there'd be offers for him at the right price. Drameh maybe, certainly seems like a more athletic choice in the PL than Coyle would be.

You forgot Palmer who we should be selling to Luton pronto. Burstow either sell or get out on loan in the Championship to continue to grow his value.

I assumed he'd just go to Luton, going up actually makes it easier to get rid of these lads because we don't need to think about the numbers as much now.

Though, if we do sell anybody, now would be a good time to do it so it counts if/when we come back down. If all that FFP stuff still matters.

FFP doesn't matter, it's all SCR now.

Ah ok, well in that case then we should probably still consider the numbers, but I reckon if we can shift Palmer, Akintola, Dowell, Kamara, Burstow and Omur, it's at least £100k off the wage bill (they'll all have wage rises in their contracts as well) to start with.

Throw in Drameh and potentially Phillips too. I liked your suggestion of Millar. I'd also say possibly Ajayi.

Of the loan players, I’d only sign Joffy permanently.

As for our players under contract, I’d try to move on:

Akintola
Phillips
Jacob
Kamara
Drameh
Famewo
Dowell
Destan
Palmer
Burstow
Ömür

I’d also loan out Gyabi and McCarthy.

That’s very idealistic though. I think we’ll struggle to shift some of them permanently this summer.

Christ every time I think I've thought of all our squad players there's more I've forgotten. Famewo, Gyabi and Jacob good shouts too.

Our squad size is nuts. Some have already pitted Acun against Marinakis and think that's a fair shout.

To be fair, we only signed some of these players on 18-month or two-year contracts which I think works in our favour. We hardly have any players out of contract this summer but quite a lot in summer 2027. That’s quite different from a few years ago when we signed players on long contracts for huge wages and we struggled to shift them. Ömür is the only one still here of that ilk and his contract also runs out in 2027.

I think we’re in a better position to accept lowball offers for some of them now we’re in the Prem, purely to get them off the wage bill. I’d try to get a bit more for Kamara or Burstow but it’s possible we just loan them out again as they’re on longer contracts.
