Tonda's future at the club

If reports are true that the manager used his position to put junior staff, who had the opportunity of a lifetime to work for a championship club, spy on teams after saying they were uncomfortable doing shows a lack of regard for their well being as well as the laws of the game. I would imagine most of us have experience of this style of management and it is toxic. Whereas previously l had supported keeping him on as he is a top coach, now l think he should be on his way.

Very much depends on the definition of bullying. Is Salt going to stand in front of a disciplinary panel and state he was happy to do it? Or is he going to do everything in his power to mitigate his personal responsibility? I've seen it in multiple different sectors that I've worked in of junior employees getting caught out and trying to drag a boss down with them.

Now if Tonda was physically, verbally or emotionally bullying then yeah get rid. If he's told them to do something they know they shouldn't be doing, I'd have hoped for them to have the personal fortitude to tell him to **** off, not cry about it later.

Was just thinking about how it’s a bit Gen-Z all this too, potentially. “What, you expect me to do some work?”

What if he was told “ if you don’t do this , there will be no job for you at this club “ .

In all honesty I’m not sure I could tell him to F off . If that makes me weak in other people’s eyes , that’s just tough .

I wish I could tell him to F off and I admire people who can , but I doubt if I could .

I think it's worth remembering that this isn't some young nipper fresh out of uni, he's 27 isn't he? More than old enough to say no.

To be clear I'm not trying to excuse Tonda but I do think it's important context.

I suspect we'll never find out but I'd love to know why he refused to do the Ipswich one but then agreed again for Boro.

I am calming down as the days go on (though I will be mighty pissed off later when I see pics of Wembley and smug Boro fans).

Tonda is a 33 year old inexperienced man. In his short working life - let’s face it most mangers are 45+ so have at least 25/8 years of working and experience in them and quite a few as ‘the gaffer’- he has been one of those analysts. His ‘bullying’ could just be inexperience at people managing? At 33 I dealt with people so differently than I do now at 56.

I’m not making excuses, but the whole episode if you take a step back smacks of inexperience - he needed a mentor to rein him in. Remember after Bristol City how full of praise (almost in awe) he was of Roy Hodgson?

Let’s not totally throw him under the bus because we are angry, it is a serious misjudgment, but life is full of learning experiences.

Not just Salt, but that Taylor guy who was kicked for being ****, so decided to bring the whole circus down. As others have said, they’d not have lasted a minute under Clough or Fergie etc., and they’re lauded as the greatest managers ever.

I said earlier that I'm all for second chances and I would with Tonda if it was just the act of spying.

Every team across the globe spies on the opposition - its the norm and whilst not entirely sporting its the culture the current players and coaches have grown up in, including Tonda - everyone is out to bend the rules as far as they can for sporting advantage and it will only change with legislation, enforcement and time.

With that in mind despite all the crap feeling about being kicked out I wouldn't be against him staying on and we just get our act together.

BUT if there is any actual evidence he's a bully (and not just a blunt, demanding coach) and / or he's lost the players then I don't see how he can continue.

It's this last one that has me down as fire now and not so much "we bent the rules and got caught"

Aside from that though I think the club handled this totally amateur hour if some of the stuff about parsons and gibson etc is true.

I do think that if you are asked to do something that you know is against the laws of the game it is not Gen-z behaviour, it shows good moral behaviour

Breaking the laws of the game because your boss told you to, then blaming anyone but yourself, is good moral behaviour?

It’s understandable perhaps, but hardly good moral behaviour,

Yep this is it for me too.

I also wonder how much was a little pressure which we all get in life, but the younger snow flakes get all pissy about it and start branding the bullying stuff around.

Also there would be a degree of messing around and piss taking which can be easily turned into something more nefarious in the situation fits.

I’m not convinced this Salt dude is as Snow White as has been made out, I wonder if he hung us out to dry.

And as for someone on the panel that had played for Boro, that is a ****ing disgrace and should be investigated.

**** me I hope we sue the EFL, us doing that is the only thing making me slightly less explosive about this situation.

Nothing can be done now about the mush on the panel, the time to challenge it was before it started.

Which we should have done to delay it as much as possible.

Calming is beginning…… I think it is anyway, then my mood goes down again!

He is paid to manage the team and win football matches. His record speaks for itself. If we want some kind of "paragon of virtue" maybe we should appoint the Archbishop of Canterbury.

What the team and the manager need now is SUPPORT FROM THE FANS.
Nonsense

Sorry if my post was unclear but l was trying to make the opposite point.

Oh I agree, however if we were to sue the EFL that is absolutely one of the things that would be used against them.

Same, it's seesaw of emotions. When something re our expulsion comes up as it did when Mike Bushell was previewing today's match this morning the ire rose and the expletives flew. Calmed down into acceptance mode, did the smoked salmon and fresh coffee breakfast in bed for the hardworking Mrs Jab with just the occasional **** it, ****ing **** it slipping out.
