I suspect when the full ruling etc is published, it will show a 3-0 walkover awarded to Boro in the first leg, although that has not been made public yet. But that's the only way they would have a watertight defence against any legal action from us. BUT we just need to get on with it and win.
I was thinking this. If that’s the case then would Oxford and Ipswich receive 3-0 victories in their games as well? What about future charges made by clubs like Millwall, Wrexham, Derby etc.?

The EFL have potentially ****ed themselves by allowing Boro to take Southampton’s place instead of sending us straight up.

To be fair, awarding boro a 3-0 win would cover a lot of legal bases for them. Although not sure why they wouldn’t announce that at the time of that was their plan?
Don't think it was mentioned when they originally expelled Southampton, they said they had expelled them for breaking rules 3,4 and 127 there was no mention of a walkover in the statement as i remember.

Can they retrospectively change that after the hearing on Tuesday
What I'm saying is we haven't seen the full ruling yet. The upsum we were given was that Soton were expelled -- but the detailed published ruling might say 3-0 walkover, resulting in their expulsion. That might have been the decision in any case but was a detail not provided to the public at the announcement stage.

Don't think so as they said it is a separate competition within a competition or some crap like that.

So is the general feeling amongst saints fans that the manager has to go then? From reading this board and talking to football fans in general it seems I’m in the minority, but I really don’t think it’s a massive deal. I’m sure the spying stuff goes on all the time and has for a long time. Yeah, it’s unsporting and if you get caught you would probably expect a slap on the wrists, but compared to fully grown men rolling around on the floor pretending they’ve got a career ending injury, or the constant time wasting that goes totally unpunished, I’d say spying on tactics a club may or may not use is pretty low down the list of things that go on in the modern game.

In our poll exactly 50% think he should be sacked. Me personally wants him gone yesterday as I have strong opinions about any cheating in sport especially systemic cheating.
The decision to expel us was disproportionate to the multitude of offences in football and it is infuriating to see the likes of Citeh still not having to answer to their 115 charges and it does feel a little like making an example of "little Southampton".
It should've been a big fine and a smallish points dedution imo.

Agree. Next up should be diving cheats. Year ban would soon stop it.

Never liked their fans and it's bound to kick off somewhere. I just hope to avoid them at the services on the way back if the worst happens.

Unless the record books actually do point to a first leg awarded victory of 3-0 and an overall aggregate in Middlesbroughts favourites, even the financial expert said on TS this morning that City have a hugely strong case. He added a caveat that if they played the final that might negate the argument. In which case I suspect that legal argument might already be with the EFL.

91 clubs and the EFL on our side on Saturday.

Surely that argument gets negated when Middlesbrough decided to go ahead with playing Saints after being charged with spying and got the outcome they wanted?
