A) The club knew so daren't sack the manager in case he blabs

B) The club didn't know so they can rip up his contract and boot him out

C) Ignore Option B - of course they knew and hoped they'd get away with it

You couldn't organise something, on that scale, without the owners knowing ...

... they're lying through their teeth and will keep doing it.

This is from their forum which shows the level of arrogance from some of them.

Off to court we go
They all want Sports republic out.

their feeling

1) Someone other than Tonda knew this because they would have to OK, Tonda is coach, not CEO.
2) if the whole board knew but kept quiet they also have to
3) the players - to what extent did they know? those that did they are capable to and need to leave
4) whilst its only 4 point, no one will want to sign for us after this.
5) possible protests outside St Mary's
6) fans stopping their STs on mass protest

To me, the longer the manager remains in place, the more I believe the owners knew what was going on.
Someone (and i dont mean the lad with the phone who has been hung out to dry) has cost Southampton the chance of a £200 million payday. If the owners didn't know what was going on, I would guess they would be pretty pissed off.
The manager is still in place.
They knew.
pretty much how a few of the more level headed saints fans feel.

they believe that possibly the only people that didnt were the ground staff at St Mary's and obviously the fans

Could be that they're going down the gross misconduct route with the manager to avoid paying compensation. That would involve inviting him to a disciplinary meeting with reasonable notice etc. Or it could be that they are waiting to see what the FA do. I would expect them to relieve him of duties under both those scenarios mind.

I watched an interview on SSN yesterday with Phil Brown, they were asking him about his history with the playoffs with Hull and the topic with Southampton came up.

He thought that the intern would more than likely be checking out the way teams worked set pieces rather than how they played, asked whether the players would've realised what had happened, he wasn't sure but his answer was interesting.

He said that in a build up to a match when they were practising defending say a corner, the coach would say we're gonna defend it this way and in the match that's how it turned out, the players could think that was lucky but if they're practising set pieces before games and each time the coach is right in his approach the players have got to be asking themselves "how does he know what to do?"

Or just have Hull play either West Ham or Spurs (whoever finishes 18th) to determine who gets the 3rd PL spot
Given the massive resources of premier league clubs compared to championship clubs I’m not sure that’s fair and they are two separate ruling bodies

I think given Southamptons cheating the EFL have done the best they can under their jurisdiction. Points penalties would be difficult to apply particularly if they won the final

Once the supporters accept that the entire blame lies with the club, whoever initiated this, the quicker they’ll get their heads round it all …

… no one but Southampton were involved.

I’m surprised Cleveland Police haven’t asked the trespasser to attend an interview. Filming, on private property, is quite a serious matter and the footage/data should be seized in case anything further emerges.

There are private areas in the changing rooms, massage areas, etc as well as at the golf club where ‘the spy’ changed clothes. If a children's team or women were present at either place there’s another potential offence.

The repercussions could actually cripple the club.

Cleveland Police are absolutely useless mate.

Probably a daft question but do the Southampton fans have to give their tickets back? They bought them in good faith and have done nothing wrong. Can they still attend or as I suspect Wembley will cancel them.
