i noticed this

hes out of contract isnt he and my first thought was i hope he gets through that PO final unscathed and signs a new deal and the boy is truly set as he deserves it.

If he was available on a free id have him for depth in a heartbeat
Yep, he'd be a very useful free transfer squad option. Now he's proved his fitness he has a lot going for him.

Did not know that. You think UK based so that would be homegrown - no.

Definition of Homegrown: According to Premier League rules, a homegrown player must be affiliated with an FA-affiliated club (England or Wales) for three seasons or 36 months before the end of the season in which they turn 21.

(A homegrown player is a player who, regardless of their nationality or age, has been affiliated with any English or Welsh club for a period of three entire seasons or 36 months before their 21st birthday.

The same rules apply to players who have three seasons or 36 months as a registered player prior to the end of the season in which that player turns 21.

An example of this is Chelsea's Brazilian striker Joao Pedro. The 23-year-old, born in Sao Paulo, joined Watford in 2020 aged 18. Because he spent three consecutive years before turning 21 in England, he is considered homegrown.

Another case where the homegrown rule comes into effect is Arsenal winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke, 23, joined PSV Eindhoven's academy in June 2018 as a 16-year-old and did not return to England until January 2023, joining Chelsea two months before his 21st birthday.

Because Madueke had been an academy player at Crystal Palace and Tottenham prior to moving to Eindhoven, he is still classed as homegrown)
Yeah we are about to get mayenda to qualify too, which is nice.

We talking about LND on a free?

I'd jump at that like. Normal wages for prem squad player would be good for him and I doubt he has anything but fond memories of his time here.

The lad was one of the hardest strikers I have ever seen, not sure if he is still the same never really seen him? But as a squad option he would be worth a gamble for free or a small signing on fee.

Doubt many other prem teams would show interest?

Love him to bits me, but i'd steer well clear his injury record is to bad to ignore, If we sign him he'll do his ACL in the last minute of our last friendly after scoring 5 across preseason.

Don't think so no
I thought I had seen something written about it so I search for a bit and found this

"Definition of Homegrown: A player must be registered with any club affiliated with the Football Association (FA) or Football Association of Wales (FAW) for a period of three entire seasons (or 36 months) before their 21st birthday.

Mayenda's Background: Mayenda joined Sunderland from French side Sochaux in the summer of 2023. He is a Spanish national and did not spend his youth development years in the English/Welsh system.

Current Status: He is currently classified as a "non-homegrown" player for registration purposes, though as an under-21 player, he does not need to be named in the main 25-man squad.Future Outlook: While he is becoming a regular contributor, reports indicate he is considered a developmental player.

For the 2026/27 season, Mayenda will still be classified as an under-21 player, allowing him to play outside the registered 25-man squad, Definition of Homegrown: A player must be registered with any club affiliated with the Football Association (FA) or Football Association of Wales (FAW) for a period of three entire seasons (or 36 months) before their 21st birthday.Mayenda's Background: Mayenda joined Sunderland from French side Sochaux in the summer of 2023. I'm not sure on the specifics with that last part - maybe the suggestion is he isn't classed as home grown next season due to still being also classed as u21.

But to gain homegrown status I believe it's being registered with an English team for 3 years before the end of the season you turn 21.

He was registered with us for 2 in the championship and then 1 in the premier league (this season) where he turned 21. So should definitely qualify.

I’m generally fearful of perma injured signings. DCL has been great though. Id not have taken him and hes had a big role in keeping them up.

I don’t want any of them to go but of our big players, who will be the one to leave that we will miss the least.
Roefs could be away with Chelsea after him.
Sadicki has several clubs who want him.
Le Fee is wanted by some top clubs.
Mucky is also attracting interest.

I can’t see Granite, Alderete or Reinaldo leaving and the rest are going nowhere (players like Talbi, Diarra) and I’d like to keep Gerty.

I would hate to see any of the top 4 leave but they seem to be in the £50 - £60 million price so we could do a lot of good business if we sold one.

We’ve managed after losing Clarke and Watson so they know what they’re doing but still, can we keep them all?

If we get European football, cant see many wanting to leave,

they will want to stay and fight to be apart of the european squad,
a few players will want to join to be playing in Europe.

Was said on commentary that moyes was surprised by the amount of players who turned Everton down because they weren't in Europe.

If we can attract the calibre of player we did last summer with a relegation battle predicted, im really excited to see who we can attract with Europe on offer

think that will happen to Chelsea,

they have no European football on entrice players
same with spurs.

Looking at a Mika ( not that one, nor that one) Godts
winger from Ajax

dont think we need any more wingers

think its more strikers, Full backs and defenders

Think we still need a specialist RW whether it be an understudy to Traore if he stays or an upgrade, happy with developing both Talbi and Angulo on the left think they both have huge potential - Ta Bi a bit of a wildcard and was a low a fee can see him being drip fed minutes or going out on loan

Think Mundle leaves this summer
